For the serious wine lover...

So, for christmas a family member is getting a wine cooler/fridge, corks and a opener for the stocking. And I just bought two beautiful local wines. Any suggestions on books, other gadgets, etc that would be the perfect gift for the wine lover?

A decanter for reds is an excellent gift, but can be pricey.
Good glasses are a plus (Seriously. They make a difference, but again pricey).
And there's a great book that came out last year called "What to Drink with What You Eat" by Dornenburg and Page that I can recommend.

A gift shop for a good cheese store.

Thanks! They already have a tone of beautiful wine glasses...the book sounds great and could be just what I was looking for! A decanter is something I never thought of!

Costco has a great "rabbit" knockoff opener for 19 bucks that is good everytime. I regularly give them as gifts. Every place I went to in the mall has those neoprene wine bags, single double and triple. Some even with a pouch for gadgets on the go. (small opener, foil cutter and standby pourer)
My father bought my husband an Oster Wine Opener http://osterinspire.com/Product.aspx?pId=1963 it is a fun little gadget.

Vacuum-Vin. Oh what a blessing since I've discovered this years ago. We can't always finish that whole bottle of wine, but it's almost as good the next day with the Vacuum-Vin, and it's CHEAP! Go for it!

second on the vacuum-vin. it's a great little gadget.

A really fun book on Napa valley wines and wineries is "A Moveable Thirst" by Kushman and Beal:

I couldn't put it down!

I third the vacuum-vin, I've found it indispensable .

A gift certificate to Murray's Cheese in NYC would make any wine lover happy! And yes, they ship all over the country.

I'll fourth the vacuum-vin...

Glass trinkets are fun (I'm always getting my glass confused with someone else's)

A GREAT BOOK, even just to read, not only for the great advice (it's actually funny and well written:

Oldman's Guide to Outsmarting Wine: 108 Ingenious Shortcuts to Navigate the World of Wine with Confidence and Style
