A new found love for Fage!

I purchased two containers of Fage over the weekend and I just ate one of them. I am hooked! If there is a 12-step program for yogurt addiction I'll have to sign up soon.

My first taste was 2% with strawberries- divine! The strawberries taste like strawberries! The schnozberries taste like....wait a minute....I'm getting off topic.

Anyhoo- after consuming nearly the entire container I read the side and found out I was eating it incorrectly. I stirred it despite the gentle warning against stirring. Can anyone offer some insite as to why we're not supposed to stir it? Especially when the delightful strawberries cleverly stored in the little "side car" are just begging to mingle with the creamy goodness next door?

Finally, thanks to all who listed Fage as one of their favorite eats. I may have to take a 2nd job to pay for my 'habit'!

Fage, my love!

I actually had this fun random conversation today about Greek yogurt: the best brand (Fage, hands down) and why we need a Trader Joes *somewhere* nearby (not so good as Fage, but about $2.00 cheaper).

I can only imagine that the stirring might disturb the yogurt's texture . . .

Because the fruited Fage yogurts are much tastier with the clear distinction between yogurt and fruit. IMHO. I rarely ever do the fruited ones because I do so love the Fage with dark amber maple syrup drizzled over it. Or honey. MMmmmmmm.

I have found that stirring thick yogurt makes it break down and turn liquidy, and I guess that’s why the folks at Fage advise against it – stirring would undo its wonderful thickness.

I love the plain Fage with figs, walnuts and little honey. Mmmmmmm...

Fage Total 0%. Yes, I remember my first cup fondly. I bought the stuff completely convinced I'd hate it. As a matter of fact, I ate it just after saying, "OK, let's get this out of the way..."

It's like cream in the mouth. It feels like sin. I don't buy the large container because I don't have the discipline to stop eating it once it's open.

As far as the separated whey, I drink it. I rarely if ever stir it in. Perhaps the makers of Fage want the product to remain as thick as possible?

If anyone out there has never tried it, make Tzatziki with it. You too will be saying, "Horizon who?"

i've used fage as a substitute for mayo in tuna salad for making tuna melts. it's magic! i think it would be best with diced red onions and dill pickles and a few good cracks of black pepper.

fage mixed with granulated maple sugar and walnuts, topped with freeze dried mango and blackberries....

I have to share my favorite way to eat it . . .

1) Put Fage in the freezer for one hour. You don't want it frozen, just firm and very cold.
2) Mix with granola (I like Nature's Path) or muesli.
3) Top with dried/ fresh fruit and nuts.

Mmmmm. I eat Fage this way as a dessert . . . it's healthy and yummy. I prefer it to ice cream (granted, ice cream often makes me sick. But still.)

i was obsessed with this stuff until i went Vegan!

Love it.

It's a great substitute for sour cream. A little bit on top of a bowl of spicy chili is a beautiful thing.

I also like it with a drizzle of dark honey on top. Hard to believe there's no fat in there!

Has anyone applied serious heat to Fage? Does it break down much? Inquiring minds want to know!! :D TIA.

@ Charm City: very good point, but I ate that first cup so fast I wouldn't have noticed if it lost any texture! I'll keep that in mind for my next cup, tho, and see if there is a difference.

@KarynMC: that sounds awesome! I want to make homemade granola to mix with the plain 0% that is taunting me as I type...maybe this weekend....

You guys rock. I will have to make a regular trip to stock up- despite the cost and distance! Thanks!!

AuntJone-- you have to dip your spoon in the strawberries and then scoop up some yogurt. Tasty!

if there is a trader joe's near you, they carry it and charge quite a bit less for it than most other stores.
