Where can I buy vanilla beans in bulk?

I make lots of vanilla ice cream and I want to stop spending so much on vanilla beans at the market. Anyone know a good place/website to buy them in bulk?

thanks.

Saffron.com

Great quality - I got the 1/2 lb bag. This is also where I get my saffron! If you want to see pics of the products, search "vanilla bean" and "saffron" on my blog, steamykitchen.com.

happy shopping!

Go to www.bulkfoods.com. They have several types of vanilla beans from which to choose in large quantities for what seems like a reasonable price. Scroll all the way down the home page for the link to vanilla beans (spices and flavorings are in alpha order - hence the low position of vanilla beans).

ebay.
Home & Garden > Food & Wine > Spices, Seasonings & Extracts > Vanilla Beans

try www.theposter.com/vanilla2html
$5.75 for 1/8 lb apprx 20-23 beans minimum order $12.00 though, maybe someone will share an order with you??

I can personally vouch for them! And there is a very long thread on eGullet about the store and what people have purchased (and an experiment with the beans to make homemade extract). Not sure if I'm allowed to post the thread....

I just purchased 1/4 6-7 inch long Tahitian beans on ebay. Dirt cheap and certified organic at only $5.99. That's about 30 beans.

I use vanilla bean paste in my ice cream, puddings, custards and brulees.
They sell it at Williams-Sonoma. The paste is all the work already done and the taste is the same. Give it a try.

I vote for E-bay too.....I always buy beans there, from Vanilla Products USA as well....always good quality.
