What''s your favorite way to eat peanut butter?

Mmm...dip spoon in jar & consume! Actually, I have many favorites...swirled in ice cream, cheesecake, cookies, buckeyes, frosting & spread on apples or bananas. My last meal (earlier thread) included a grilled p.b & honey sandwich. Hopefully, you don't suffer from arachibutyrophobia---the fear of p.b. getting stuck to the roof of your mouth! November is Peanut Butter Lover's month, too. What's your favorite p.b. recipe? Desribe how you make a p.b.sandwich. Smooth or crunchy person?

I actually prefer almond butter to peanut, but I quite like sate sauce. My favourite way to eat it is as a component of 'patat oorlog,' an unlikely combination of friets with mayonnaise, sate sauce and chopped raw onions. Sounds weird, but it really works.

smooth Skippy & honey on Wonder white : )

Gotta be super crunchy all natural on chewy whole grain bread -- that's my standard breakfast on the run.

I also prefer almond butter; on whole grain bread, which is my usual post-workout lunch. I most often use peanut butter in peanut sauce for noodles & chicken, and for baking.

Besides spread thinly on heavily buttered toast; on celery. (The groove is a natural for PB!)

Creamy.
On pancakes with butter & maple syrup.
(Remember: it's not a layer of peanut butter unless it's a half an inch thick.)

I've also used ketchup, mustard, peanut butter, and a few odds and ends to make barbecue sauce.

With a spoon.

Also, on really hot, crispy toast, run under the broiler for just a sec to make the PB even hotter and toastier.

Mixed with a little cayenne and water to use as a dip for chicken.

Still, mostly with a spoon though.

Lately it's been creamy Jif with Smuckers pineapple preserves on whole wheat bread. Also a sliced honey crisp apple with a schmear on every bite.

Toast an english muffin. Meanwhile, slice a fairly ripe banana (barely a hint of brown freckles) and get your PB and spreading knife ready for action. As soon as the english muffin is lightly browned, pop it out and immediately spread PB on both halves, about 1/8-1/4 in thick on each. (Caution: it will burn your fingers, but it's totally worth it.) place banana slices in an even layer on one half, cutting them into half-slices, if necessary for even distribution. Sandwich together, wait a couple dreadfully long seconds for the banana to warm a bit, then devour!

I also love peanut butter and apples, preferably excellent granny smiths (has to be super crisp, with the idea sour-sweet ratio), honeycrisps, or braeburns!

Extra crunchy on a toasted english muffin with just about any kind of jam.

Shop Rite brand Super Crunch on whole wheat toast with either blueberry or apricot jam.

or cut up an apple and smear liberally

or on a sesame bagel

Peanut butter and mango chutney sandwiches on whole wheat or 7 grain, slightly squooshed up from having been carried on an airplane going overseas.

smooth on banana bread.

Am not much of a peanut butter fan -- ate too much as a kid, I guess. Favorite way these days is in cookies; otherwise, smooth with strawberry preserves on any good bread up to the challenge.

Is there any way to eat peanut butter that is not mmmm, so good? (I guess licking it off the bottom of a sneaker or something ;-)) I love peanut butter on toast, but will eat it pretty much all of the ways already mentioned either smooth or crunchy, although I don't think I have ever been acquainted with Lemons pb and mango chutney. I might have to try that. Funny, peanut butter is a desparation pantry staple from my imporverished childhood which I do not hate...hmmm!

Also, you can mix a little PB into your ground beef when making hamburger patties. Just be sure to let them chill for a while after forming or they tend to be hard to handle.

With a spoon, maybe next to a dollop of Nutella. On toasted sourdough or whole wheat bread with jam, preferably strawberry, raspberry, or cherry, or with bananas and honey.

I love those warm gooey dribbles that ooze out of the back of your sandwich, and swooping them up with your finger and licking them off. Far from delicate, but really appreciable.

With a spoon or in a small prep dish with a little agave nectar on it. second up would be a PB&J w/ Blueberry preserves on wheat bread.

I used to like peanut butter on crackers, which I would eat for lunch. I also ate peanut butter on graham crackers. I like nutty peanut butter on toast, and I also like it with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Yum!

My favorite is on warm toast where it starts to get a little melty

Fresh ground natural peanut butter on crackers drizzled with honey. Pure Heaven.

Equal volume of OJ and PB with pickeled ginger, cayenne and 4 or 5 gloves of garlic. Toss in a food processor and whiz until uniform. Add water by the tablespoon if needed to loosen. Pour over grilled chicken.

In a shake:
Peanut butter
banana
vanilla ice cream/ frozen yogurt
milk

optional:
drizzle honey
chocolate syrup

Just discovered Skippy Roasted Honey Nut. Eat it straight out of the jar!
I also like nutella + peanut butter

So, JEP, do you deep-fry that pb and honey sandwich? :)

Actually, I prefer cashew to peanut butter, but I do enjoy a good pb cookie now and then.

crunchy, natural peanut butter on a pumpkin muffin, banana bread, or spread on a piece of toasty pumpernickel.

hereandthe---no deep frying but I make sure it's ooey-gooey melty :)

Also like p.b & choc brownies.

Are serious eaters brand loyal? Lately, I've been partial to Skippy Natural.

I just remembered a sandwich I used to eat as a teenager: PB on buttered toast with mayo, sweet relish and a lettuce leaf on white bread.

A possible source of marital discord in our house -- I am and always will be a crunchy JIF girl, and my husband is a creamy, whatever's-cheapest guy. We alternate purchasing creamy and crunchy (and yes, had to sit down and discuss this).

My PB&J must be toasted with berry preserves (NOT jelly - yuk).

I also like it on a spoon for an after-school snack.

Sadly, can't eat PB anymore (gives me some serious heartburn). But it was always one of my all time faves, and I still risk the discomfort once in a rare while. The only kind I will allow in my house is the "all natural" type (peanuts, salt, that's all), preferably CHUNKY. It's a pain in the butt to stir it up, but it's the only thing that tastes right to me. All that other stuff with the shortening and sugar (Jif, Skippy, etc.) is just wrong, wrong, wrong (no offense to their fans intended).

Back when I ate it all the time, I loved so many of the things listed here... I'm getting a craving! I was raised on PB & honey sandwiches on whole wheat, loved it on saltines or hot toast, excellent with bananas or apples or celery.

Something really good that my dad taught me is PB & CHEESE... I liked it best with jack or sharp cheddar.

My mom's best friend ate sandwiches made of equal parts Jif and mayo. She had an unnatural obsession with mayo. Ugh. The memory still makes me shudder... 8-x

LoCo: keep your natural peanut butter upside down in the fridge and the oil will remain evenly-distributed--no messy stirring necessary. make sure the lid is screwed on tightly!

Thanks, tudo... actually, I've never had to stir it again once it's stirred and refrigerated. The cold is sufficient to keep it homogenized. It's just that initial stirring that I hate so much. I usually manage to get the oil EVERYWHERE with plenty of colorful language heard throughout the house. Lately, hubby has taken over, realizing that I don't even eat the stuff, so why should I suffer? Isn't he sweet?

BTW, my daughter's go-to after school snack this fall has been a tablespoon of creamy PB. Yes, I have to buy both creamy AND crunchy to satisfy all the PB eaters of the house.

Cinnamon Swirl Toast and PB!

Graham crackers smeared with all natural PB and topped with some fat free cottage cheese. Sounds weird but very tasty and healthy. Otherwise, PB on whole wheat slighty warmed from the microwave. Yum!

crunchy natural. on toasted challah with bananas and honey.

although... i'm not supposed to eat peanuts anymore. so i haven't had any in a long time.

After recommendation from an earlier thread (oatmeal toppers), I tried peanut butter swirled in my oatmeal this a.m.---yum :)

Smooth pb on whole grain toast. With the butter on top of the peanut butter.

Aw man.
I forgot to mention grilled peanut butter and jelly, and of course, the religious experience that is the peanut butter and bologna sandwich! (Wheat or white sandwich bread and three slices of bologna with a 1/4 inch layer of peanut butter between each slice.)

Try swapping pb for butter (the same amount) in your favorite banana bread recipe - yum. Though I'm usually partial to all natural products, I love love love JIF pb (my husband is appalled) -- prefer chunky but will dive right on into the creamy if that's what's handy. Also love PB Loco's flavors -- they have a spicy one that makes great sauces, and a dark chocolate flavor that perfect right off the spoon.

For sandwiches I really prefer almond butter, with chunky fruit preserves (strawberry, cherry) -- but am happy with the pb as long as it's on toasted whole-grain bread.

out of the jar! or spread on slices of granny smith.

smooth on whole wheat bread, a sprinkle of salt+cinnamon and banana. Holy cow..

CookiePie---I've read good reviews on the LoCo PB saying it is an adult pb! Only buy online?

Has anyone ever made the pb pie that combines cream cheese & whipped cream(?)---sounds extemely good. Oh, pb fudge is a winner, too.

On bread with honey and bananas. Or, the good ol' peanut butter and jelly!

Chew on That

Hi JEP - I feel like I've seen PB Loco in stores, maybe Fairway? But I'm not positive. It is fantastic though - every flavor I've had has been delicious. Definitely worth the trouble of buying online.

I have a recipe for pb pie with the whipped cream and cream cheese -- it goes in a graham cracker or oreo crust, then the pb-cream cheese layer, with a layer of ganache spread over it and crushed pretzels sprinkled over the whole thing. Decadent but worth every calorie! :)

CookiePie---thanks---I thinking I can justify a mail order :) Your pie recipe sounds even better with the ganache topping!

My current favorite is peanut butter on a thick piece of cinnamon toast with sliced bananas, drizzled with a little honey! It's my go to breakfast item.

Aside: I didn't eat peanut butter from the age of 5 to 18. During nursery school, I ate a PB&J sandwich almost every single day. I was baby sat by a classmate's mother after school. Every day, the classmate's mom would ask her daughter what she wanted for lunch. The answer was always PB&J with the crust taken off... ugh!

At that age, I was literally fresh off the boat and barely spoke English. I was a shy kid who just went along with everything. So, I also ate a PB&J sandwich every day. After nursery school, I didn't touch peanut butter again until I was a starving college kid. I love it now!

On fresh, hot toast with either a little Nutella or a schmear of sweetened condensed milk.

salty natural peanut butter with sliced bananas on ezekial bread with maple syrup! or on banana bread, graham crackers, oatmeal.. everything!

I have also made peanut butter & choc s'mores....mmmm

Oh gosh, how could PB ever be bad?? I have two weird habits, but I swear they are so so good.
1) PB and egg sandwiches. Make a sort of egg omelet and put it between two slices of Peanut-buttered wheat bread. The PB melts with the heat of the egg. YUM!
2)baby carrots dipped in PB. so good and crunchy!

I love the all-natural peanut butter--no added oils or sugar. Pure and delicious :)

It has to be Skippy Super Chunk on whole grain sunflower flax bread. Best combo ever.

crunchy peanut butter and banana on toasted white bread. mmmmm.

smooth peanut butter on graham crackers with a slice of tart apple.

peanut butter (creamy) on crackers with salt!

Spread on gingersnaps, too!
