We ate at Hangawi, it was excellent.
Admired pure food and wine a lot but went with the Korean food instead.
candle 79 also seemed popular
not gourmet, but I really enjoyed the vegan sandwiches at Atlas Cafe
good vegan brunch at Counter (I think that was the name)
had some great vegan arepas too, I think it was Caracas in the East village

Blossom is an elegant and upscale all-vegan option with an excellent selection of organic/biodynamic wines and a great atmosphere. I have only been there twice (it's fancy!), but I highly recommend it.

I recommend Counter. The food is well-prepared, fresh, delicious, and inventive. The organic wines are incredible. Nice atmosphere. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I really like Gobo, on 6th Avenue near Christopher Street, and I say that as a confirmed meat-eater. The food is really flavorful and creative, and nothing remotely "depriving" about it. It's not wildly upscale, but it's a definite step up from college-town-style grub.

vegetarian dim sum house is a favorite for sunday brunch. i can't get enough of those dumplings, and the juices are great too.
