Middendorf's in Pass Manchac
If you are traveling from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, take a turn off I-10 to I-55 to go 15 miles to Middendorf's for their thin fried catfish. It is about 1/4-inch thick, wonderfully seasoned with a combo cornmeal/flour seasoned breading and it's out of this world dipped in tartar sauce. Thanks to the tip from this site. Catherine

I actually covered this recently on my blog.

AND their pecan pie is delicious! Last time we were out there, there were a few people selling local strawberries and the like, and we purchased some mayhaw jelly. If you're ever in Louisiana and you have the opportunity to purchase a) fresh Louisiana strawberries, or b) mayhaw jelly, please do so. You will thank me later. Off topic, but the subject of Middendorf's took me back to that wonderful spring day.

I was warned to call ahead for hours and days. Next time I will try a piece of the pie if I have room!
