Greek Eats
Many years ago I went to Greece, and came back a devotee of Greek cuisine. I had forgotten my love for it until, I ate at Anthos in NYC last week. A salad with feta and vegetables from the market that was amazing, fabulous lamb shanks, awesome Greek donuts, etc. Does anyone else love Greek food? Your favorite dishes?

My college roommate was about as Greek as they come, his family was almost a spitting image of My Big Fat Greek Wedding so i've come to love Greek food. His mom makes this greek lasagna (the name eludes me right now) but it's probably the best home cooked meal you could have!

Greek is one of my favs. I love all things with feta cheese. I love all things spinach. I also dig a good gyros now and then.
There is something so "like home" about roasted meats that appeals to me. Saganaki is da bomb!

When I first moved to my new town and had temporary housing by work, there was a (unfortunatly long since gone) place on my way walking from work to the hotel. Rack of lamb with salad and all of the trimmings was only $12.00. With an appitizer only $20. The rack was a full rack - I don;t know how they did it for that price. Anyway - that was where I spent my per diem every day - with plenty of leftovers for breakfast and lunch. After the first week they had it ready for me every week night so I could eat it at the temporary apartment (I don;t like eating alone in public and my wife at the time who was not here was very paranoid)

kitchenlove, you're probably thinking of pastitsio, which is a lasagna-like dish with noodles, ground beef, and a bechamel sauce. Definitely one of my favorites. I also adore Greek pastries, especially bougatsa (filo filled with custard) and loukoumades (fried dough with honey).
And gyros, but only in Greece.

I love all Greek food! Salads, spanikopita, lamb, baklava, souvlaki, you name it... My dream vacation is tour Greece, mainly because of the food-although I hear the scenery and the history aren't bad either!

I love Greek food too! One of my favorite meals in life is some good quality Chicken Souvlaki with tzatziki, feta, tons of lemon....all the good stuff. Served with some greek potatoes, and a greek salad, I'm in heaven!

Spanikopita, hands down. Lots of work, which I freeze (just finished 25 rolls for Thanksgiving) and there is no denying it is worth all the time. lolly
