Favorite Wines?

What wines do you return to again and again? I buy Yellowtail Shiraz quite often, but I really dig Sebastiani's Merlot and Ponzi's Pinot Noir Reserve.

Barrel 27 Syrah '04 (about 20.)

I love love love spanish rojas. They are the vino de tavola around here this year. My husband is a french wine person and I am an italian wine person and we often rotate new things into our collection.
In the summer we drank a lot of viognier, brascetti de aqui, roja, and asti.
I buy a lot of beaujolais, even nouveau, it is great table wine.
I buy chardonnay and yellow tail for cooking wine. We do not serve it or drink it. I also buy marsala for cooking.
The old stand by Châteauneuf-du-Pape is always good to fall back on.
We keep a small reserve of bottles in house and have our favorite wine store Total Wine nearby.

Lately, for cheaper everyday stuff, we've been enjoying some very well-priced red blends... all under $15 at my local shop, where the prices are super reasonable and the owner is super qualified (certified sommalier, university instructor). He's awesome because he's SUCH a nice guy AND he shares our hobby of seeking "best kept secrets" -- truly excellent wines for under $20. He's a lot fun, always steering us to great new finds.

His recent picks that we've been enjoying regularly:

Folie a Deux "Menage a Trois Red" - blend
Ten Mile - red blend
Laurel Glen "Reds" - blend
Condesa de Leganza Crianza - pure tempranillo
Indis - red blend
Adelaida "Schoolhouse Red" - blend
Paringa Sparkling Shiraz (reminds me of sangria)
Various Proseccos (our go-to summer wine)

BTW, a wonderful French we recently enjoyed that was much less cheap, but still a great bargain at $54 (and quite delicious) is Château Lagrange Saint Julien (Bordeaux).

MMMmmm... Is it wine o'clock yet?

If you like Pinot Noir, there's a fabulous one from Oregon...A to Z. It's a little difficult to find by me (but it may be between vintages) and it runs around $17 per bottle.

French rose, served chilled for anytime from May through mid-October.
Red zinfandels from old vines; alcohol content immaterial. Love those big old boys
French champagnes made for what was originally, I'm told, the English market, with the toasty notes in it. Preferably with good potato chips, if you want a little irreverence.
Norton with dark chocolate, the greatest wine to go with chocolate.

LoCo, Chrissy and I should hang out, as the "Menage a Trois Red" and A to Z are two of my favorites as well!
I've definitely been in to the 'blends' for the last few years, and recommended the Menage to someone as recently as last night. Here in NJ, I can get it for 8.99 or 9.99 depending on the store-an excellent bargain, imo. Other favorites include the Schoolhouse Red, L'Ecole Number 41 (a Columbia Valley blend), Hedges' CMS, and a terrific (and very affordable--under $15) malbec called 1919.
I'm thrilled that fall has finally arrived, along with red season! :-)

Chianti
Pinot Grigio

Any wine that's Italian or French ~

Weapons of choice for day-to-day consumption:
Eyzaguirre (Chilean Cab)
7 Deadly Zins (what it sounds like, duh)
Conundrum (white blend, but very drinkable)
Some sort of Tavel (blush, I'm still meandering between labels)
and New Age white (it's sparkly! Sauv blanc/Malvasia blend. Buy a lime for Tincho goodness.)

These are my under-twenty-bucks, go-to guys. I usually keep a bottle or two (or more) of each around, just in case.

When I lived in Norwalk, Conn., I used to get a Gavi at Stew Leonard's Wine & Spirit Shoppe. I don't remember who makes it, but it came in a greenish bottle with an off-white label. It's absolutely delicious.

Anything sparkling ( prefer toasty/yeasty)
Achaval-Ferrar Malbec (and vineyard)
Ridge Zin. (any vineyard)
Bandol Rose (Domaine Tempier)
Marques de Caraques Rioja Gran Reserva

Kangarilla Road Syrah (McLarenvale, Aus.)

100% pure Cab Franc!

In terms of types, I love sangria, merlot, and chardonnay. I switch up the brands quite a bit!
