Disappearing yogurt
This is a twofold thread. First, why I am I having such a hard time finding Fage yogurt? It seems to be disappearing, being replaced by other Greek brands. Next, what do you do to create your perfect yogurt treat?

It all depends upon where and when you shop. Whole Foods carries Fage all of the time (nyc area). ShopRite carries it but they run out quickly. Now I know when they restock the shelves so I try to shop then. You could also ask your grocer to carry it. Have you tried the other brands? I have tried the Stonyfield brand of Greek yogurt which is good but they only seem to carry 0% which isn't for me.

Trader Joe's still has it.
By the way, if you want to try a different non-Greek-style yogurt, Cascade Fresh has an excellent fat-free variety. Tastes full-fat to me.

When I lived in the Santa Monica area, I actually planned my grocery shopping trips around the day of the week my local Whole Foods got their Fage shipment in (Thursday afternoons- I am only releasing this very sensitive information because I do not live there anymore!). That Whole Foods was particularly busy, and Fage was apparently everyone's favorite, because if you waited until the weekend, they would be all gone.
As for the second half of the thread, the beauty of Fage yogurt is that it goes well with so much! A favorite right now is to spread it on a Ry Krisp cracker and then cover it with homemade Pantesco Pesto (the recipe which I got from this website)

I can usually find it at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's without any problems, my favorite is the 2%. I like the yogurt plain on its own, but sometimes I mix it with oatmeal, or with frozen wild blueberries.

I get mine at Trader Joe's, and now Stop & Shop carries it (in MA).
Mixed with herbs, garlic and/or lemon zest it is a great marinade for boneless chicken breast - which I then bake with feta cheese on top.
I also make a dip using a spice mix (from McCormick or one of those supermarked brands) called something like "Greek Spices" or "Greek Spice Mix" (dried mint, oregano, lemon peel, garlic etc.) I mix in feta or serve it cubed alongside, with olives plus veggies & pita for dipping.
Let's not forget how good it is just drizzled with honey or mixed with granola!

Be the squeaky wheel. That's how we got Publix to start carrying it regularly. I love the stuff. Even the 0% is so luxurious in the mouth it feels like a big fat sin. Fage makes the best tzatziki I have ever made or tasted. I never buy the large container because I don't have the discipline to stop eating it - then I realize that I can have the whole blasted thing for about 240 calories!
Rally your friends to request it too because there is strength in numbers.
It's sold at Fresh Market and better supermarkets all over.

Sorry - Didn't see part 2 of the question... I love to combine my Fage with berries and bran. I dip crackers into it (Wasa crisp) and I sometimes use it in place of cream cheese on a bagel. Then, there is always that excellent tzatziki :D

I tried the trader joe's strained greek style yougurt and I couldn't tell the difference. Plus it's half the price.
