Road trip
Hi all my name is Dixie and I am new to serious eats. I am planning a road trip leaving from Houston Texas going to Destin, FL. I hate chain restaurants and would appreciate any suggestions on great food to try on the way and some in the Destin area as well. I am also spending one night in Mobile, AL. Thank you Dixie Chick

Mobile! Then you must stop at the Original Oyster House right on Mobile bay. Actually, it's not the original Original Oyster House because that was wiped out by a hurricane - which one I can't recall. Good oysters and they are well known for their gumbo.

Try Skopelos on the Bay in Pensacola -- beautiful views and excellent seafood.
