Pureed and really soft food...
Due to an accident while riding my bike on Monday, I now have a fracture in the bone above my teeth. It's really uncomfortable to chew, but I'm getting sick of and depressed by the same soup and ice cream. I think it would make the rest of the week more fun if I could still enjoy being in my kitchen and make something I can actually eat. Everyone always has great recipes, how about some fun ideas for food my injured mouth can handle?

Just some ideas off the top of my head: the obvious mashed (sweet) potatoes, green pea or white bean puree, polenta with Gorgonzola or whatever cheese you like, any kind of spoon bread, creamy slow-scrambled eggs, poached or soft boiled eggs.
I know you said you were bored with soup, but even eliminating any soup with chewable ingredients, you're left with a multitude of broths and pureed soups. Miso broth, chicken or beef consommé, gazpacho, tomato soup (cooked that is), leek and potato soup, curried carrot soup, etc. I can't believe you've gotten tired of all of these already.
As for deserts, there's all sorts of mousses, puddings, or custards that your jaw could probably handle. I don't really do deserts much though.
I can give more specific recipes if you like. They'll be approximate recipes, though, since that's how I tend to operate in the kitchen.

This Banana Cocoa Soy Smoothie from Eating Well is very yummy if you feel like you need something dessert-like!

Lots of Indian food is pretty mushy, and can be easily pureed:
Dal (spiced lentil curry)
Channa Saag or Saag anything for that matter (curried spinach with chickpeas)
Beigan Bharta (roasted eggplant with spices tomatoes and onions)

Rice cooked in broth of almost any kind until it's quirte soft and then soy sauce, grated ginger, minced green onions and/or garlicnand squares of tofu. Same with almost any curry paste or powder sauteed in a little oil before cooking. And you can do pretty much the same thing with Italian or Cajun-type spicing. Make it as thin or thick as you like, puree if needed. if you need to sneak more protein in and can't or won't manage tofu, puree some cooked meat and stir it in at the end. You could even use commercial baby food meat for that; if they still make the "junior" meats, I found they had better flavor than the strained stuff. Or you can break an egg into it at the end to poach, or give it a stir and have egg-drop soup. Good luck.

When my daughter was a baby I made all her "baby" food. Mashed potatoes w/ good home cooked chicken in blender (dice chicken first), home made apple sauce w/ yogurt or cottage cheese, carrots mixed with potatoes through a ricer. Think almost anything that you are craving, cook it and blend it individually. Hope you are better soon.

Thank you so much for your input! Really good ideas, and the other topic was really helpful too. I have lots of rest time tomorrow and Friday and I intend to try some of these, starting with sweet potato spoon bread. Thanks again!
