If you could have any chef cook you dinner, who would it be?

I know I would probably ask Alice Waters. And I would hope that she would join me as well! What chef, alive or otherwise, would you ask to cook you dinner if you had the opportunity? Would you have any special requests for your menu?

The late Shizou Tsuji: A japanese chef who wrote the book "Japanese Cooking: A simple Art." I love this book and it is one of the only books I actually use recipes from. But I wish he could make some of the more complicated stuff for me.

I just ate at Anthos in NYC, and I wanted to take the chef home with me and lock him in my kitchen. He is Michael Psilakis, his food is Greek themed, and his food is to die for!

Julia Child, no question.

Mario Batali.

Special request menu? Anything from southern Italy of course.

Mario was my other pick!!!

I want Alton Brown to cook me dinner...I would learn something, have wonderful conversations, and have great food!

Anthony Bourdain would be a fabulous.

Thomas Keller. And I'm bringing Elizabeth Faulkner in for dessert (I can't wait for her book to come out!)

Since all or most of these chefs are either famous or dead, I was wondering how often do you thinks these celebs. actually cook. It would be awesome to have a special meal cooked by any of these people but I wonder when is the last time they actually had to temp. a piece of meat or even dice an onion, or for that matter cook any food at all that anyone besides the film crew would be eating?

Mario; anything he would cook I would eat.

mario first just because to i love his original style of italian simplicity. But if I could have one cook for me and then eat with that person it would have to be Alton! I love his sense of humor as well as his food!

ferran adria or thomas keller.

Gabrielle Hamilton or Anthony Bourdain

I've been thinking . . . I'd ask Mario to make an appetizer of sweetbreads; and then to join me for the meal. That would be so much fun.

Either Ming or Lidia. My husband says Lidia reminds him of my mother, so at least he'd be at home with her.

Alice Waters

Alice Waters. Hands down.

Gordon Ramsey. But only if he sits alongside me at table, and regales me with humorous stories from his career.

I think Gabrielle Hamilton would be incredible. As well as Alton Brown. He's such a funny guy. And Lidia! She'd make some kick-ass down-home-Italian. Yum.

I say anyone from the Food Network. But I would say Rachael Ray,especially because everything will be ready in 30 minutes!

Alton Brown. I'd give him an ingredient or technique to play with a week in advance and watch in amazement as he incorporates it from appetizer to dessert. And in return, I'd give him Yakitate!! Japan anime. He'd probably appreciate the zaniness of it.

mark twain or randy newman, they may not be able to boil water but i would be happy to eat crackers as long as there was conversation.

Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, or Frederic Anton... hard to say which...

Personally, I'd like a culinary 3-way with Alton Brown, Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsey! I wouldn't care what they made-

After having an amazing meal at Frontera Grill on a recent trip to Chicago, I'd have to say Rick Bayless. It's food I can't get anywhere in my "neck of the woods".

Marcus Samuelsson or Bradley Ogden. The first for his bright deep tastes, the second for his singing intense flavors. Actually a duet by the two of them would be out of this world.

Sounds weird, but a collaboration between Deborah Madison and Daniel Boulud? Something rich and luxe, but vegetarian and fresh. Maybe you'd end up with Alice Waters if you combined them, I don't know.

Marcella Hazan - hands down. Even after all these years, I still think her Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking is the single best cookbook I have ever owned. I have a bunch of her stuff, but that's my all-time go-to book.
I'd love to thank her in person.

Oh. I forgot to mention Julia Child. What a fantastic lady, even at her most annoying.

I'm not sure if anyone outside of Canada knows Micheal Smith? He's The Inn Chef, the Chef at Large and the Chef at Home on Food Network Canada. A couple of years ago there were fantasy gifts in the Sears Wishbook, and one of them was to have Michael Smith come to your home and make dinner for you and your family/friends. If it didn't cost thousands of dollars, that would have been on my wish list!

I also concur with others that Alton Brown would be a great pick, because his company would be as enjoyable as the food!

Mario, although he'd probably be appalled by my purely NYC, greasy, grimey, galley kitchen.

Alice Waters, Masaharu Morimoto, or Casey from Top Chef.

Hillary
Chew on That

Casey! That's be sick! And also I must say that Rick Bayless would be awesome too.
