Hops...How much is too much?
With craft beers becoming more and more popular a wide range of styles is emerging. One of the most popular is the super-hopped IPA. I'm personally not a fan and think these beers are like the over oaked chardonnay of the wine renaissance. What are your preferences?

I don't like these much either. I picked up a six pack once, and it just tasted bitter and herbal too me.

I think IPA's are completely over rated. It seems like the recent trend in beer is to try and shove as many hops in as possible. If I wanted bitter, I would eat an orange rind.
For me... My favorite beers are more malty than hoppy. I am definitely a Lager kinda girl. I work with a lot of beer "aficionado's" and I tell them time and time again. Keep your IPA!

IPA's are my favorite style of beer. Certanly not more hops are better but a nice balance between malts and hops. I prefer a slighter lighter bodied IPA as some of the IPA'S and double IPA's are two heavy to drink more than 1 at a time. Avery's IPA from Boulder Co has been a favorite of late.
I'm also a home brewer and make a Tounge Splitter IPA which is light and very well hopped. It goes great with mussels which is also the liquid used to steam them in.

I love super hopped up beers in the summer, but in the winter, I want a darker, more malty beer.

Living in Oregon....it seems I have no choice when it come to the local beers....this place loves the over the top hops....sick & tired. It's a great way to mask faults with the brew. A nicely balanced IPA is a great thing, those are just far and few between. Lager it is....
