A few parameters:
1. I'm going to the Brooklyn Book Festival at Brooklyn Borough Hall in Brooklyn Heights...needs to be close or easily acessible by train (sorry, that's my friend's rule, not mine)
2. Affordable.

top choice without a doubt - Frankies 457 in Carroll Gardens. Pick up the F at Jay St Borough Hall and take it 2 stops to Carroll Street.
Friends will venture out from the city to visit me in Bklyn JUST to go to this restaurant!!

Lucali's. It's my favorite pizza in all 5 boroughs!! It's located on Henry Street, between Carroll and 1st Place. You can either walk or take the B-61 bus.

The Queen on Court Street - old-style Italian.

Bogota Lation Bistro in Park Slope. Farid and George have a fine, fine place. Great Latin food, great nabe, friendly staff and friends from both coasts rave about it.

Fragole is the best Italian near Brooklyn Heights. If you could make to Park Slope, I like Al Di La. Bocca Lupo is close to where you'll be. It's good.
For Mexican food, Alma is nice. Great views of the city.

I'd have to disagree with Fragole. I think it's pretty subpar and most of the food there is way too salty.

Hmm, I prefer Fragole to Frankie's. I do like Bocca Lupo too. Personally, Al Di La is my favorite restaurant in the area. Great food and excellent atmosphere.

Thanks, everyone! We ended up at Frankies 457. The food was fantastic, particularly the salads --fig, watercress, and gorgonzola & buffalo mozzarella with arugula--mmm! Get there and sit out back while you still can!
