Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese icing. Actually, anything is a vehicle for cream cheese icing...

I'm not much of a dessert person, but I did make two cakes for my twin daughters' 16th birthday. One was a classic chocolate cake with chocolate icing. The other was a white cake that was soaked with a syrup flavored with orange flower water, iced with a buttercream flavored the same and topped with fresh berries. Both were divine!

Where to begin?
Coconut cream cheese icing/vanilla cake
chocolate mocha icing/vanilla cake
chocolate frosting/devils food cake
cream cheese frosting/gingerbread cake
pumpkin pound cake/egg nog frosting( Warren Brown, Cakelove recipe)
etc.,etc.

I'm a carrot cake girl... but with just a thin layer of the cream cheese frosting... it can easily over power a great cake.

Princess cake, which is sponge cake layered with pastry cream and raspberry jam, then covered with a layer of marzipan. Heavenly.

Rum cake baked in a bundt pan, made with real rum, then drizzled with a rum-and-sugar-and-butter sauce while still warm! my former mother-in-law's recipe.

Oooh...tough. I like yellow cake with vanilla icing though. Plain but yummy! Oh and I second the German Chocolate Cake; that's also a good one.

Wow, hatlady and happybites' recipes have me salivating indelicately.
We were never much for cake in my family-- none of us are really frosting fans-- but my favorite cakes are the kind with multiple layers and different types of icing/frosting/filling.

Carrot cake, please. Loads of icing and nutmeg.

I'm not a huge cake person, but I DO love Boston Cream Pie.
I've been trying to come up with something funny regarding the fact that my favorite cake is named a pie but I can't and now I'm frustrated. I need some BCP!
