Cider vs. Apple Juice?

I'm making a soup tonight that calls for non sparkling apple cider. When I went to the store they only had sparkling so I got apple juice instead. What I'm really wondering is what's the difference between juice and cider?

Thanks, I don't know why I didn't wiki it. lol. (perhaps I've been on wiki overload lately) Luckily some part of me decided to get the unfiltered stuff instead of the normal stuff, and my soup turned out fine :)

Ned Flanders (from the Simpsons) has a little trick to keep them straight: "If it's clear and yella, you've got juice there, fella; if it’s tangy and brown, you’re in cider town!" (Unfortunately, the You Tube clip where he explains it to Homer has disappeared.)
