Boo!!! It's Halloween!
I know Halloween is technically a "juvenile" celebration, but I know plenty of adults who love it. I'm going to bake cookies and cupcakes, all with a black and orange theme. I will also eat some candy corn. Maybe I'll get a scary apron to bake in. What will you do?

My yearly tradition is to invite friends over for making popcorn balls :)

I usually make cupcakes, but this year I won't be doing so because I will be in London, yay!

Halloween is a great excuse to eat and drink lots of pumpkin bread, chocolate, apple cider, popcorn, and candy! What's not to love? I love baking goodies, personally, and giving out candy.

I'm almost done making my niece and nephew's costumes. I'm so stoked! Halloween is probably my most favorite holiday - I love it so much I'm taking the day off so that I can drive to my mom's, get the house ready and the kids in their costumes as soon as they get in from school.
As for candy: my mom traditionally gives out full sized hershey bars. I, as the chaperone/costume maker/house decorator, get to have first pick in my niece and nephew's candy bags.

Perhaps because there's somewhat less to do in Cleveland than in Manhattan, Halloween is taken VERY seriously there, by both kids and adults. Restaurant and store staffs are often in costumes, there are wild parties all over the place, and the trick or treating is far more rampant. I have family there, so I go out there every Halloween (after having a feast for friends here the Saturday before Halloween) and my sister throws a big party for 50 people. I tend to be in charge of the food, and I make ghoulish things like choucroute with pig's feet and bratwurst in it. I dress as a Mad Chef with a bloody knife and stage blood all over my white apron and toque.

At my office there has been an ongoing controversy concerning candy corn. Other then just popping it in your mouth, what is the correct way to eat it. Layer by layer from the top (pointed end) down or layer by layer from the bottom (wider end) up?
Dughis at 12:52PM on 09/24/07
Dughis, I have to say layer by layer from the top-- because the bottom is all nasty anyway!
Christina at 10:52PM on 09/24/07
Eat the candy corn from top to bottom! The white layer tastes the best.

I think you should pop the whole thing in your mouth and suck on it. So it slowly dissolves.

Halloween is all about dressing up getting drunk
and seeing if you can win a contest at your local hangout. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!!!
