Do you mean fondant? For icing? If so, google fondant and you'll find vendors.

Wilton sells fondant on their website, and suggests using icing color to tint it.

Where do you live? If you are in NYC, go to New York Cake and Baking at 56 W. 22nd St.. They have everything there.

Baking cakes [from scratch] are my weak spot...I wish I could make better cakes but mine always seem way too dry and the texture...ugh (and yes, I even use cake flour rather than all purpose). If anyone has some nifty tips for baking cakes please share? -And, I hope I'm not hijacking this subject...I know cake frosting/fondant is the subject but I figured I'd sneak a wee request in regarding cake rather than creating a whole new thread. :)

Sorry I don't have a positive recommendation to give, since I have little experience working with fondant, but I have heard time and again that wilton makes the most disgusting fondant of all.
I know I heard on Ace of Cakes that he uses Satin Ice. I believe he has a conversation with another baker about the gumball cake where she mentions that Satin Ice makes pre-colored fondant. It's fairly widely available, easily Googled. No idea about the taste though.
Cheffy: Try searching the threads at Baking 911, and definitely don't miss the ridiculous amount of information available on the main website. They are tremendously helpful over there for any baking or cake decorating question. Experienced amateurs and lots of pro bakers will answer your questions beyond what you expect.
A great book to start with is Rose Levy Berenbaum's The Cake Bible. It's full of tips and rock-solid, thoroughly tested advice and recipes. Start with the Ultimate Butter Cake and go from there.
Generally, though, assuming your recipe is good, the main mistakes less experienced bakers make are 1) poor measuring 2) overmixing or 3) overbaking.
The Cake Bible and Baking 911 have tons of tips on how to avoid these and lots of other mistakes.
(Background: I took on a wedding cake project this summer that involved 3 kinds of cake recipes and 9 different fillings and frostings, not to mention decorating and constructing the things. Both of these resources saved my ass.)
