Restaurants in Charlestown/Newport, RI & Boston
It's our honeymoon. Nothing expensive, just good food. We'll be in Boston during Restaurant Week so we have a list of restaurants, but have no idea if they’re any good.
Any suggestions?

The original Pizzeria Regina, also known as "Polcari's," in Boston's North End is cool, and you will definitely find a good place for coffee and pastry afterwards.
If you can make a stop off in Providence before heading to Newport, try Al Forno. It's expensive, but so worth it

Silvertone in the Back Bay has the best comfort food and the dining room has this great moody, retro vibe.

i was just in boston on business earlier this week. had an amazing dinner at helmand in cambridge - wonderful afghani fare, highly rated.

I like sitting at the bar in Neptunes in Boston. Mare was okay, too, if they didn't have the neon pink wall. Outside of Providence, though, I highly recommend http://www.dewolftavern.com/

Tresca in the North End is excellent high end Italian -it's pricey, so go during restaurant week. (actually, they always have a 4 course "tasting menu", I think it is $65 per person and an additional $40 to match wine with each course) . They'll be booked, so get a reservation early. Ask for the table for two that looks over Hanover St., it has been called "the most romantic table in Boston". http://www.trescanorthend.com

The problem in Boston is that you have cheap/bad and expensive/good as options but little middle ground, unless you like expensive/bad, which there's a plenty. Neptune Oyster is good, plus you're right in the North End so you can walk around discovering foodie place before and after your meal. Helmand is very good Afghani food, but there is nothing else at it's location and it requires a cab ride to and fro.
There are a couple of place in the South End that are worth visiting: B&G Oysters, Masa and Pho Republique, my favorite Vietnamese place, which can be more bar than restaurant at times, but a relaxing place for a drink.
The Back Bay is full of national/regional chains that will gladly take your money in exchange for bland, dull and uninspiring.
The No Name Restaurant is a great place for an inexpensive seafood dinner. Bring your Depends if you plan on visiting Anthony's Pier Cuatro.
All in all, I'm sure you'll have a great time and find some interesting foods to eat. Don't forget about Chinatown, there's good Dim Sum and some non-gringo menus out there.

In Newport, Tucker's Bistro. Ate there once while on vacation and had not a single complaint. Very cozy outdoor eating area. Had a very tasty roasted chicken breast with whiskey sauce over sauteed greens and bacon fingerling potatoes. Mmmm...

If you're willing to cross the Charles river, there are some excellent, and reasonably priced places in Cambridge.
- East Coast Grill - BBQ, delicious sea food, and fun vibe
- Oleana - fresh local food with a Turkish/Middle Eastern spice too it. An amazing patio out back if the weather is good
- Punjabi Dhaba - really authentic tasty Indian (and cheap!)
- The Helmand - delicious Afghani

You MUST MUST MUST go to East Coast Grill in Cambridge. It's one of my favorite places in the area and I would go back just to eat there. Incredibly fresh and delicious seafood, great BBQ, wonderful, friendly service, fun, lively atmosphere. Should not be missed.

I second what jayfallon says about the Back Bay with one totally worthy exception: L'Espalier. If it's restaurant week, why not? It's totally fancy french and totally astounding. I loved it. Then to walk off all that butter take the Harvard bridge across the river and go to Toscanini's in Cambridge for some ice cream. Gus there will treat you right. Replace that butter with some Guinness ice cream! Good luck!
