PrintReal NY Pizza in Austin, TX
I found a place with authentic(!!) New York pizza in Austin, TX and needed to share it with the world. The name of the restaurant is Yaghi’s New York Pizzeria and they have 3 locations in Austin. My son and I moved to Austin from the Bronx in April and were lamenting the loss of real pizza or Chinese food (haven’t found that yet!) in Austin when we saw a comment on this place and gave it a try. The owners are originally from Albany and the pizza is definitely the real thing - great thin, crispy crust, foldable slices and real toppings. My son was thrilled to see the little jars of Parmesan and pepper flakes and even happier with the chicken calzone he had them make for him. I needed to recommend this place, it was like a little bit of home!!! Any former New Yorkers living in Austin need to know it exists. BTW - If anyone finds NY style Chinese food in Austin (I miss my Singapore Mei Fun!), please let me know.

ftepper: I'm curious—have you tried East Side Pies in East Austin? Or Home Slice Pizza on South Congress? These are all pizzerias supposedly serving East Coast–style pies. Any thoughts?

I read your comment My husband is from brooklyn we lived in florida for five years and then moved to Austin. My husband like you really misses the food from nyc. We just bought a home in Hutto and we where told about a pizza place blocks from our house. Of course we heard it so many times that this place or that place is good, my husband has been disappointed so many time. But this time omg This is the real thing. The name of the pizza place is

He learned how to make pizza in Bay Ridge Brooklyn from the old timers. My husband and Carmine talked for hours and he even made zeppolis for us he said if we give them notice he'll make rice balls for us his wife just order manhattan special coffee soda for my husband. Carmine and his wife are so nice and the pizza and calzone and everything is amazing
It in Hutto but is well worth the drive !!!!

If you haven't tried CARMINE'S PIZZA & PASTA in Hutto(?) you haven't had the best NY style pizza around. Everything is made on site. The dough is outstanding, the sauce is amazing, the best cheese on the market and you won't find another 28" hand tossed pizza anywhere. That's 616 sq.inches of heaven. Sold by the slice....and we're talking SLICE, 77 sq. inches each, has to be folded to be eaten correctly. All of the food here is OUTSTANDING.
The portions are big. Most folks leave with to-go boxes because of this.
For all NYers who miss home this is the place to go.
