I'm very reluctant computer geek, stumbled into the profession and it stuck... I'm 33 and live in Minneapolis, but dream of leaving the midwest for a coast.

I'm a 49 year old academic librarian. Married with 3 teenagers. Love to cook, love to eat. Am looking forward to more travel with my husband in the coming years. I used to read a lot of fiction, but I seem to have less tolerance for it these days. I've recently read "Belva Lockwood: the Woman Who Would be President" (boring book, interesting woman) and am currently reading "Vaccine: The Controversial Story of Medicine's Greatest Lifesaver" (really interesting).

Graphic designer-illustrator-webmonkey and geek of all trades here. I'm a painter that realized I like food too much to be a starving artist so I picked up the "mad geek skillz" and do design to pay the bills.
Like ALM25 up there, I'm stuck in the midwest (Iowa) and dreaming of a coast.. OK, technically dreaming of a really good fish market, but you get the idea...

I'm a lifelong horse trainer/manager. Love to eat, cook, explore new things, feed my friends. Just got Patricia Wells Vegetable Harvest --- gotta make a shopping list and start cooking! For a good/happy read go find The Good Good Pig by Sy Montgomery. Will be going to the CIA in November for a Boot Camp -- can't wait, it's my culinary fix!

I'm a sixty year old husband, father and grandfather who is employed as a facility coordinator for the local school district. That is for at least another year. I'm retiring in June next year. I love to read, fish, cook and eat. Will be able to do more of each of those things next year at our summer place on Saginaw bay of lake Huron. Pity the poor perch and walleyes of Caseville Mi.

Now I work as an admin. asst./tech. writer for the collegiate division of a small science and engineering research university in new mexico. Divorced, mother to a son and daughter (24, 21). Big Sunday dinners are my specialty, love to try new recipes, read cookbooks for fun. When and if I retire, plan to eat my way through Europe.

Halfway to 90 here in SE Michigan, I'm the Electronic Media Coordinator at the School of Art & Design at Univ. o' Mich. I do a ton of video and print consulting there for students and faculty. On the side, I write my LunaPierCook food blog for the Monroe News, and do video with Chef Tad of the Frog Leg Inn who wants to start a video production company so he and I can produce shows with him for PBS. Oh, I also maintain his restaurant's web site and did their new menu design.

I am a 29 year old graduate of culinary school. I have been working in restaurant management and catering. Avid cook and reader. Love facts about all things food related....as much as my friends loathe hearing about them! I would love to be a food historian.
I also am a pop culture junkie, love to travel, have a serious book and magazine addiction, and one of my favorite moments to date was snorkling with manatee's- it was a dream come true.

I'm 18 years old, and just finished my first year at the University of Chicago where I'm majoring in Music. I've loved to cook and bake since about seventh grade, when my brownies caused riots among my classmates, a craze that lasted until the day we graduate (and beyond, for those of my classmates I've stayed in touch with). I'm addicted to several food blogs, and aspire to write my own. For now, though, I take tons of pictures of the food I cook and post them on Facebook.

32 and recently remarried mom of a 13 y/o boy who is an adventurous and enthusiastic eater. The new husband doesn't fit that description but he's learning. 30+ years of farm living created a limited palate.
I am a grumpy and reluctant logistics/distribution clerk for a major food company and an aspiring pastry chef- should wrap up my AAS in culinary arts this week, yahoo! I work part time in camp kitchen that hosts Quaker (or Friends Church) kids in the summer plus banquets and retreats for all in the off season. I'm paid a 3rd of what I earn at my day job but I love the camp work a million times more.
I also yearn for a decent fish market or at the least, access to fresh and locally grown veggies for more than 3 months out of the year!

currently work as an audio engineer in an archive and as a line cook. I have an MA in folklore and occasionally work as a folklorist doing documentary work and give lectures/teach short courses on various aspects of vernacular culture. I also try to be a musician: play bass in a noise-rock band, play with a couple experimental groups, some old-time music when I can, and some french horn when applicable. Throughout the years I have been a sandwich artist at both Schlotzky's and Subway, a teacher of composition and rhetoric, a roofer, a carpenter, worked on landscaping crews, audio engineer at a tv station, special effects coordinator for independent films, a flea exterminator, a warehouse shipper/receiver, worked for UPS as a loader and 2 years on the large-sort aisle, VISTA volunteer, substitute teacher, non-profit office worker, pre-school teaching assistant, server for a catering company, and it scares me that this list is so long and I am only 31 years old.

I'm a 61-yr-old VP of Communications for a major women's reproductive health and rights organization. I livetotravel and live to eat. Currently spending my children and grand children's inheritance eating my way through the Michelin NYC Restaurant Guide - about 70% through it. Also am an avid weekend cheap and street food finder and follow the reco's of Robert Sietsema & Ed Levine wherever they take me. My wife is from Barbados and is a super cook - I am a super dish washer in return for her culinary favors. We dine out 2-3 per week, order in about twice per week and cook at home about twice per week. I write reviews every now and then and post them around. My wife and I also travel a lot and also post a lot on travel sites.

I'm almost a psychologist (last few months of my PhD). I didn't take to cooking until grad school when I was away from my husband and had to learn to cook for myself. Now I'm a total foodie. I swear that cooking is what keeps me balanced. After many years of thinking, discussing, writing etc., doing something with your hands and senses uses a totally different part of the brain and keeps me sane! I love this and other food blogs. I imagine if I spent less time cooking and reading/responding to blogs, my blasted dissertation would be done by now!! Oh well...life is too short to not enjoy your food!

I'm a 46 year-old mom of two active teenagers and wife to super-lawyer husband. Grew up in a very priviledged home with LOTS of help - never in a million years did I dream that I'd love cooking my own food, working in my own garden, cleaning my own house! I am not as talented as most of you, so I'm feeling pretty humble, but I love reading about your wonderful accomplishments. I started cooking when we moved to a city where I knew no one and had a toddler on my hip - it was a lifesaver! Now it's a hobby I enjoy more and more. Cookies are my specialty, but I'm happy cooking anything!

Note to Annmarie...lots of indie movies are made here in Albuquerque believe it or not! Big studio being built just outside the city (city, I use the word loosely, it is a big town but in a good way). It's a good place to live. Not so great for food, you can improve your cooking skills...I have.

I'm almost 26, and am a journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have had the wonderful opportunity, while working at the newspaper in Lodi, Calif., to judge a clam chowder cook off, a chili cook off (with 30 pots of chili!), do some food writing and do a restaurant profile. I enjoy making desserts. I've been cooking since taking classes in 4-H in third grade, though I'm not as good of a cook as I'd like to be and know little about gourmet foods (though I'm learning through this blog!).

Beyond that, I left corporate America (insurance industry) to work with my husband in his computer business. I also work with dogs doing canine massage, reiki and acupressure. I have always loved to cook & bake. I have learned so much from the myriad food blogs I peruse..it's amazing how much food there is to explore. I'm a 65 year young retiree....looking for my next occupation. Currently I'm trying to learn how to write, after reading voraciously all my life.. I've done a bit of editing in the past and written a newsletter for an orchid society, and articles regarding computers and their operation. I've been messing with computers since the early 70's.
I'm retired from Economic and Small Biz Development in CA, living in mid-coastal OR....home of no restaurants and no grocery stores of any merit....LOL. I do a lot of beading, primarily dog portraits and this is my relaxation....mindless stitching of wee beads..it's great.
Aren't we a wonderfully diverse group? It makes me happy to see younger people very interested in food, in my age group everyone is taking Geritol and eating soft foods....borrrrring. I like ethnic foods of Eastern Europe, India, Mexico, and I love Cajun food too.

I work at an independent record label in NYC, and a record store part-time. Most of the folks in my fast-paced line of work eat so unhealthfully (and untastefully!) that it makes me cringe, but I keep comments to myself. In my world of limited labor-of-love salaries, cooking most of my own food is a huge money-saver, even if it means getting up early, no matter how late I was out at a rock show the night before... Thanks for this question - it's very interesting to hear about everyone's different lives/occupations!

30 yr-old banker in NYC. I love to cook and eat but can't always find for cooking. Luckily, my husband loves to cook as well and is a fantastic cook. So for now, I'm sticking with eating! We love to travel and trying new ingredients or cuisines.
My accomplishments are homemade ice cream, spicy kimchee fried rice, and one pot clam bake. I would love to learn how to make pasta from scratch.
