Summer brings us delectable fresh blueberries. The taste is not the only good thing about this little fruit----just reading the nutrition profile makes me feel so darn healthy & good about myself! Everybody loves blueberries, right? I like 'em in muffins, pies, pancakes & salads. And you?

Fortunately in Ohio blueberries started showing up last month and have been awesome everytime! I've already made cobblers, crisps, and muffins (thanks to Dorie Greenspan; Julia Child; and Nick Malgieri) and look forward to enjoying more and more and hope the season is plentiful and long! And thank goodness for freezer bags!
But I must say I can't find rhubarb anymore and only got to make one strawberry-rhubarb cobbler and that wasn't nearly enough!
Enjoy the plump, juicy "miracle" berries!

As I said in another recent thread, I've been getting my daily intake of blueberries by putting a bunch in the bottom of a cereal bowl, pouring a low-sugar granola mix over the top, and then covering the whole thing with vanilla yogurt.

In addition to throwing them in cereal and in yogurt, I eat them by the handful---way better for you than M&Ms or some other 'snack'!

in australia the fresh blueberries are quite expensive, and being a student with more money going towards alcohol than food, I lack that joy. Though I will enjoy them with natural yoghurt from yoghurt bars, even if they are the frozen variety

Blueberry Lemon Bread is delicious - even the pickiest eaters in my family love it. It's unbeatable with fresh blueberries, and still delicious with frozen ones.

During the summer, my husband and I go thru 3 pints of blueberries a week(more if I'm baking). We eat them alone, in fruit salad, in yogurt, in sauces, on ice cream, in bread pudding, etc. to:ceforrester- use the berries in a basic bread pudding recipe, with some lemon zest, it's delicious!

A simple summer blueberry compote:
Put 1 cup of blueberries in a saucepan with 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil and simmer gently for 15 minutes. Cool. Squeeze lemon juice on it to release extra flavor. Add to rest of blueberries from the pint. Eat with lemon yogurt or creme fraiche. Enjoy!

Besides loading them into my summer fruit pies, I just eat 'em straight.

My 10 month old daughter absolutely loves blueberries. I never thought you could cut them in quarters, but you can!

Blueberry cornbread!

I second the motion for blueberry cornbread! Frozen works ok, but fresh is waaay better. The Whole Foods near me sells 4"x4" squares of it for $3. What a ripoff! Make your own!
I also like to put them in risotto with "wild" mushrooms, sage, white wine, and parmesan. The blueberries are a nice dark juicy complement to the earthiness of the mushroom and sage.
