I'm heading to Baltimore in August. Suggestions?
I am not interested in high-end stuff, innovative chefs, or anything involving foam. I want to know what the real eats are and where to find 'em. Thanks!

a recent discovery of mine is By the Docks restaurant in middle river.. They make a mean crabcake, at a reasonable price. It's not exactly "by the dock", but it's delicious.
some classics: nacho mama's, cafe hon, and the corner stable.

Koko's on Harford Rd. for crab cakes. I've never eaten there (I don't eat meat or seafood) but I've heard they're the absolute best. It's kind of a dive bar.
Also, a few doors down from there is The Chameleon Cafe. It's a lovely restaurant with delciious thoughtful food.
And you can't miss The Brewer's Art - their beers are excellent and very well priced at only $3.50 a pint. ($.275 during happy hour).

For dessert:
Vaccaro's: http://www.vaccarospastry.com/
Or, since reading this article I've been wanting to check this guy's place out.. whether or not he invented tiramisu, I figure if it's even considered possible he must be damn good: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/10/AR2007071000327.html?hpid=features1&hpv=local

You're from NY, right? Skip Vaccaro's (Veniero's is better!) and instead go to Piedigrotta - I haven't been yet, but as 22209 mentioned, supposedly the guy who owns it invented tiramisu. See for yourself if you think he did!

Just a side note, best crab cakes are at www.faidleyscrabcakes.com Faidley's in Lexington Market. It is classic and the whole market is as down home as you can get - some good fried chicken. Skip out most of Little Italy, it's pretty much a tourist trap now. Matthew's Pizza is supposed to be awesome.

Oh lucky you! The BEST fried calamari and crab cakes I've EVER tasted was at the Timbuktu restaurant. It's not fancy but the food is out of this world. Think about me and how I envy you when you eat there!

Shucker's Restaurant & Bar in Fell's Point.
And while you're at it (if you can afford a couple of hundred bucks per night) put yourself up at the Admiral Fell Inn.
An experience that you will NEVER forget.
