Have you ever won a food-related contest?

I never have never won a baking or eating contest. I did guess the number of M&M's in a jar & won Starbuck's bear one Halloween. Anyone else win big time?

I won a chili pepper eating contest 5 years ago. Ha! All the big burly dudes who entered thought I cheated - I'm 5'4" and was about 115 lbs back then. What they didn't know is that I was raised on spicy food! I won some gift certificates to local stores (which were useless because I didn't live nearby) but I did win lots of free beer for the rest of the day!

I was Reserve Grand Champion at the Gator Pit Fun in March cookoff in 2006. 1st place ribs, 2nd place brisket, 3rd place chicken. It was a fun day.

I also won 1st place salsa at the Texas Hot and Spicy Festival in 2004.

I won a chili cookoff once. My secret? A clone recipe of wendy's chili. They were not what one would call trained eaters.

I won Thanksgiving pies from this very web site last year, awarded for my essay on same (pies, not the web site).

Correction--won pies from Ed Levine Eats, an important distinction which I neglected to make.

I took second place last year in the Alternative Burger competition for Sutter Home's Build A better Burger in Napa, CA.
I made a Bstilla Burger.

that bstilla burger looked great! you had my vote (from the couch) for first.

I won a cook book from right here at Serious Eats! ;)

I won a copy of "Pork & Sons" a couple weeks ago. Well, at least I think I did. Still haven't received the book, nor confirmation that it's on its way.

Er, make that a copy of "The Summer Shack Cookbook" from this here site.

Ronn, I got my copy today. I'm less than 10 blocks from SE HQ. Yours must be on the way.
