I will be in Naples, Italy for one night this September. Where should I go for pizza/food?

gregoryclaude: One night!? Oh, too short. I've never been to Naples (desperately want to go), but if you're interested in pizza, I've posted a handful of entries on the subject at Slice. They're recommendations from Ed Levine (of Serious Eats) and Robert Sietsema (Village Voice).
The famous pizza places seem to be Da Michele and Trianon, and Antica Pizzeria Brandi, but Ed recommends Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba.

Also on Ed's recommended list is:
Da Ettore Ristorante e Pizzeria
56, Via Santa Lucia, 081-764-04-98.
I had the pleasure of eating in this spot twice this past April. Beautiful but not over the top interior, funny waiters ... And, the food was GREAT!! Ed suggests the pasta with langoustines -- note these are a special order (not on the menu) and were indeed extraordinary!! The pizza was also great, but then it's hard not to get good pizza just about everywhere in Nables.
Happy trails.

asides from pizza, if you can spare calories, munch on some insalata caprese (mozarella di buffala with tomatoes), this is also a specialty here. there's the insalata di mare if you're brave enough. for pizza they have everything but jalapeno and pepperoni, i prefer the capriciosa- it includes baby arthichokes, some prosciutto. you can also get the diavola which has spicy salame in it. and just be careful and have some patience, people can be rude here sometimes. if your on a budget, the trattoria or trattorie (family owned restaurants) are reasonable. there's the tavola calda too which makes me think of a la carte dinning, pick what looks good to you and it's cheap. there's pannini stands almost in every corner. avoid the cabs if you can they tend to take advantage of tourists.
don't forget to follow that with gelato/gelati, lemoncello, or an espresso. i prefer the cafe freddo/ cafe shekarato/ granita di cafe con panna-- frozen coffee/ shaken coffee or iced coffee with whipped cream.
want more info, email me.... i happen to live here for the past three and a half years.
