Bread recipe question

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with a bakery/patisserie over in London called Apostrophe? They have an apricot & raisin sourdough loaf (dark in color) that I think might be organic/or maybe wheat free? I'm not sure. Anyone have a recipe for it or something similar?

how 'bout "brown bread"??? it comes in a can and when you get it out it holds the shape of the can just like cranberry sauce. anyone know where i can score some? very old school thanksgiving style. sweet, dense, rich... from what i remember anyway.

Actually, if anyone could recommend good bakeries in NW london at all I would be really indebted. As it stands now, I will trek all the way to Borough market to get fresh bread... I would love to go somewhere close by. I live in Kilburn, by the way.

I checked the Apostrophe website and they list "apricot and raisin sourdough" on their menu. I've never tasted it, but I can only speculate that the terminology rules out wheat-free, as sourdough loaves are *typically* made of wheat.

If it is a traditional sourdough with the addition of raisins and apricots, then I'd suggest folding some of the aforementioned (that have been plumped by steaming in the microwave with a little water) into a standard recipe for sourdough.

If you don't have sourdough starter on-hand, you can try my recipe (with accompanying video) for "golden raisin and fennel bread" and add replace some of the raisins with apricots (and eliminating the fennel). It is a rustic-style bread which requires an overnight starter for a more interesting texture and flavor.

I don't know the bread, but just wanted to say that Apostrophe does a fantastic sandwich - tuna, green beans, roasted peppers and rocket with curried aioli on an olive ciabatta. I know it sounds weird, but it really, really works!

The "brown bread" you asked about is known as Boston Brown Bread; if you google that (expect rye flour and to have to steam it), you can get recipes. Yes, it's yummy.
