Beef Jerky? white trash or actually good?

most the time they want sell it in bulk packages to tuck drivers. Other times I buy it at a premium from the stores in china town. Is it white trash food? good wholesome fun? or a delight in itself?

It's a very healthy snack, especially if you're dieting. Beef is always good, but you should also try buffalo, emu, turkey...

god its delicious!!! yummy

I love venison and buffalo jerky.
Don't buy the salty junk they sell everywhere, make it yourself!

I love beef jerky, but hardly ever buy it, it's just doesn't taste the same out of a package. I usually make mine... so good, and since you make it out of leaner cuts, not all that bad for you either.

I cherish a rather unique childhood memory of jerky being made from scratch in my house. My stepfather was a serious winter camper and would buy, flavor and dry the meat in our very family oven. It took a loooooooooong time and made the entire place smell like spicy meat (mmmmmm, meat) but the end result was the best tasty jerky I have had to this day. When I left for college in LA, he would send freshly made jerky in the mail and it got me through my finals like nothing else.

So there, so me, Jerky is most definitely NOT white trash food! I would even go as far as saying that real jerky can be as gourmet as any other food....when done well and done with love.

We have a jerky shop in our little town where they make their own, with dozens of spice and meat combinations. It's great stuff you won't break your teeth on or pull out your dentures with!

Love it! Great food for wilderness camping too- particularly if its homemade.

Beef Jerky from Nodines smokehouse in Goshen CT.
Fabulous and peppery and sallty.

I love beef jerky, but I can't stand most of the stuff they sell @ gas stations. I guess you can't expect a lot while on the road, but I think that grade of jerky gives the whole class of food the whiskey tango image it has...

Love it but only seem to eat it on road trips. It's perfect for gnawing on as you wear away the miles. I like almost all of it, but I really like the Chinatown stuff you mention, Kbear.

I like it when I go hiking or fishing. I take some on long car trips as well.

I am on a anti processed meats year. Aside of some boar's head ham or salami. Ok maybe a slice of pepperoni. Anyway jerky is full of chemicals so I am not eating it.

love to make it with no flavorings at all and then use it when camping to make the BEST beef stew. Always in a cast iron dutch oven! Eye of the round seems to work best for this and its CHEAP!

White trash food? It's so good...

Pretty much the best ever.

There are so many more types of jerky to try, too.

Ostrich jerky, pineapple jerky, even bacon jerky!

Check out http://www.Jerky.com . They have quite a bit.

I have found the best place for beef jerky is here http://nationwidecandy.com/candy/items.asp?Cc=MEAT&Tp=&iTpStatus=1 They have most all the major types. I have now bought from them three times and am very satisfied. Does anyone else has have a favorite?
