Are you a "back-of-the-box" gourmet?
I admit to (at least): Nestle's Toll House Cookies, Velveeta Rotel Dip & Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce recipes. I am a Serious Eater most of the time, but the old tried & true also has a place! What are your "back-of-the-package" classics?

The brownie recipe on the back of the Bakers unsweetened chocolate box. It is super easy, one bowl, and always, always, turns out brownie perfection. Praise this recipe...yes praise!

I LOVE the chocolate cake recipe on the back of Hershey's unsweetened cocoa. Just the best. But the frosting recipe, though excellent in its own right, overpowers the cake and is better for a vanilla cake. The chocolate cake recipe deserves a dusting of powdered sugar and some Breyer's vanilla ice cream. And it's darn easy.

I have to second the Baker's brownie recipe. Best brownies EVER!

Cheeseburger Pie on the back of the Bisquick box.
It's my secret shame.

I agree with everything orangemiles said!

I once read the velveeta box. I tried that velveeta salsa dip. Only I fried up some sweet onions and hit it with 2 chipoltes and then added salsa and melted velveeta. That stuff was good. I never make it because we eat it.

Bakers brownies -- YES! Also, banana pudding off of the Nilla Wafers box. Classic. I use that vanilla pudding, which has a little flour, with lots of other things too, like jello parfaits (just add gelatin to fruit juices, esp orange)...it's so comforting. Also there's the classic pumpkin pie filling on the Libby's can. (And thanks, orangemiles, for the Hershey's info!)

On rainy, lazy days, when I want something that tastes like the bland food of my childhood I turn to the casserole type recipes on cans of Campbell's Cream of ____ soups. My favourite usually involves cream of broccoli, chicken and cheese - but cream of mushroom and pork chops ain't bad either.
I also have a long standing addiction to veggie dip made with lipton's onion soup mix and sour cream. oooh, i love fattening my veggies up before I eat them!

I'm with H2M, Vanessa and orangemiles. The Hershey chocolate cake recipe is my favorite, though I must admit I love it with the accompanying chocolate frosting recipe!! The Bakers brownies are fab, but I like the Ghiradelli recipe I found on the back of a bar of their semi-sweet (I think?) chocolate even better.
When I'm feeling lazy or have no clue what to cook I scour the boxes and cans in my kitchen for an easy recipe- like instant brown rice (don't judge me! 40 minutes is too long for real brown rice!) cooked in chicken broth with veggies and diced chicken, or mixed with ground beef, salsa or tomato sauce with cheddar cheese.
And we make Lipton's onion soup and sour cream for chip dip. I will eat the whole tub myself if given the opportunity.

Not sure if they include it anymore but the Mac and Cheese recipe on the back of Mueller's elbows was delicious. Just make sure to add some dry mustard to the recipe.

Well, it's not a box, but I love the cranberry quickbread on the back of bags of fresh cranberries (Ocean Spray and others). It's a family tradition at Thanksgiving. I could eat the whole thing (and the addition of chocolate chips makes it even better!).

Fun question! My most-asked for cookie or bar recipe is a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe I found on the container of Quaker oats. Delicious and easy. I'm also a big fan of pudding mixes.
