Question of the Day: I never make ____ for myself but...

...enjoy eating it elsewhere. My answer: dessert. I am all about dessert! Could eat a different one twice a day. Single servings are impactical. I am known for going to restaurants & order dessert only. How would you fill in the blank?

that's sort of an easy question. I'm retired, single and I never make
"any thing" for my self. "But" if I want something I invite family/friends
over : ) problem solved!
I've never figured out how to cook for one (cooked for five kids and their friends) so now I cook for four and freeze three portions.

I never make pizza or ice cream for myself. I'm going to try and change this in the near future!

Pancakes. French toast I've mastered, but I haven't made pancakes at home in probably 20 years (and I'm 35).

turkey.....because my husband likes it deep fried...and the turkey deep fryer falls in his domain since its "food cooked outside"

:-(

One day I might have to cheat on him and sneak a turkey in the oven!

I have to agree with pancakes. They're such a hassle to make for one, or even two. Sure, they make great leftovers, but somehow it's just not the same. Also, I love pickled vegetables, but I never make those.

Fried chicken. I've yet to be able to make it in such a way that it's the way I like it.

Up until 4 years ago, I too never made dessert. But then I started baking, and I haven't stopped( which is dangerous, because I gained 10 lbs. just by tasting). I would've said pizza, but over last weekend, I grilled pizza for the first time, and it was easy, so that is off my list. So I will have to go with ice cream. It is probably my favorite food in the world, and I was given an ice cream maker in Jan. for my birthday. Yet, I haven't used it. I think I'm afraid that once I make it, and see it is easy, I will make it all the time.

Meat (mostly chicken) and shellfish. I keep simplified kosher (dairy and fish only) at home so my mom can visit and feel comfortable. Never much enjoyed handling raw meat, anyway.

I'd also love to learn how to make ice cream someday, though I'm a little scared that it would get out of hand...

hollaindaise sauce

Onion rings. However, since they tend to make me sick (most fried stuff I eat outside the house does now), I don't eat them often any more.

sushi-even if I trusted myself buy the right fish that wouldn't kill me by eating it raw, I don't think I have the patience or skills to master the rolling aspect. Plus I like to go with friends and order a bunch of different kinds, and that would take me forever to prep at home!

Barbecue. That's one thing I wish I could do because I love barbecued chicken, especially my dad's. At least I can make his marinades.

Have to agree with psychsarah, and say sushi. Have considered taking a class but decided that even if I knew how to do it, I wouldn't put forth the effort to buy all the ingredients and make it often enough to be worth it. I'll leave that one to the experts.

Also ice cream, although we keep saying we're going to buy a mixer and do it one of these days....

I make most anything, but foie gras is still best at a restaurant that knows what its doing

For me, even the most humble sandwich tastes better when someone else makes it.
