Breast milk cheese?
My stomach in knots right now after reading this: (but fair warning, please don't click on it until after you've safely digested your breakfast)
Breast milk cheese
I've eaten my share of weird foods, and sometimes my kids eat their own boogers, but eating human product really freaks me out.

Although the thought of breast milk cheese both disturbs and intrigues me, I'm pretty sure you can't do it. I think that a certain amount of proteins have to be in the milk for it to curdle, and breast milk isn't that rich in protein.
But that's just my guess ... maybe it can be made? Pretty sure I'd be apprehensive in trying it (both the making and the tasting).

Not sure why this is, but I've found the original posting section of this Talk area doesn't accept links.
Having tried to find what you intended to link to, Jaden, it seems a lot of what Google has points to this page from last year. Toward the end of it, the author writes:
"So, the moral of the story, YOU CANNOT MAKE CHEESE OUT OF BREASTMILK. Don't even try."
Still, strange thought, that.

you can make a sourdough starter from human breastmilk past it's expiration date, though..
apparently.

Ear wax lips? Anyone? HAHA

I am not kidding when I say that someone who used to work with Alton Brown told me that Alton made cheese from his wife's breast milk. Urban legend? Maybe. Believable though? I wouldn't doubt it that he would try it if the thought occurred to him.

Why are people so disgusted by breast milk?
thepictsie at 5:50PM on 06/09/07
ditto, thepictsie
Is it less weird that we suck down gallons of milk out of cows' udders? That makes us both the only species that consumes milk past infancy AND the only species that consumes the milk of another species. Face it, we are freaky.
We might as well consume the milk of our own species if we're going to at all. At least that cuts out half the freaky.
The vegans have got it right.

Well it's gotta taste better than fried human placenta with bacon & onions.
There is actually a cookbook that was printed in England that included this recipe.
It is actually alot more common than you might think but still
very disgusting.

You actually can make cheese from breast milk. However, it takes a savvy engineer to do it. Ask Jonathan White. He's done it.

Damn! I hope that this thread has about run its course.
I cannot stomach too much more talk about "fried human placenta with bacon & onions", and "human breast milk cheese."
I mean, in my humble opinion, human breasts (female, that is) are beautiful creations and should be handled properly (when they are NOT busy feeding infants).
But give me a break . . . "cheese???"
And, chameleonz, why did you need to publish your comment SIX times?
Maybe Adam can fix the bug in the software?????
Time to leave for the "Sopranos' Finale Party"
I will devote some additional thought to, and observation of, female human breasts while at the party --- ;>)

DocChuck, seriously, why is it so disturbing? I really, truly want to know.
thepictsie at 7:23PM on 06/10/07
@ thepictsie:
That's a fair question. And, in all honesty, I can't give you a rational answer.
It's kind of like . . . Why am I deathly afraid of snakes, when I am not afraid of taking on any human being on the planet??
Doesn't compute, psychologically :>)

Although I'm not horrified by the idea, I can understand why others find the idea uncomfortable. Adult humans aren't used to (publicly) ingesting anything that comes out of other human bodies.

except milk...duh?! Mothers feed baby's milk...but the adults don't drink it.
