What good restaurants are there in downtown Louisville, KY?
I will be with 1099 hungry English teachers scoring the AP exam for the next ten days. We limp through convention center breakfasts and lunches, but usually are ready to spend our own dollars for a decent dinner. I have to do that ten times! Help! Where to eat?

Not sure how close it is to downtown Louisville, but Lynn's Paradise Cafe is tons of fun and the food is great!

I've not been to his place in Louisville, but 'Jeff Ruby's' in Cincinnati is a good place to get a steak. I'm pretty sure it's downtown and my friend there says good things about it. Also, the guy made some press during the Derby for kicking OJ Simpson out of there. So, go firgure. Hope that helps.

Hi Teachertalk-
I lived in Louisville for 5 years when I was in culinary school and I miss it so much! It's a fantastic city to visit and eat your way through. Below are a few local restaurants where I've had great meals. There are many other quick-serve places as well and chains, like California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, Old Spaghetti Factory, etc. throughout the area as well.
If you need anymore help just let me know!

Wow! I am overwhelmed with the fabulous responses. Erinay---you should go into food guidebook writing! I know I will have many fine meals in Louisville, and after an 8-5 day of AP exam grading, we will all need them as rewards. Thanks again.

Check out Havana Rumba in Saint Matthews. It's Cuban; local place. Delicious and you get a ton of food for great prices.

Is Kuntz' still open downtown? Between the Brown hotel and the Galt House? Wonderful steaks, really old-fashioned service with the waiter replying "Very well" to requests. I had my first flight of bourbon there, followed by many others. Sadly, I saw many chains opening and many local places close over the 5 year period I visited there every February. But they finally figured out how to brew good coffee by my last visit.

If you like indian food, Kasmir on Bardstown road is amazing. There are a lot of good places on Bardstown. It is not downtown, but not a bad cab ride. Asiatique is also really good with a great atmosphere.
