Restaurant suggestiong in Atlanta
I'm visiting Atlanta next week (moving there in 2 months). I'll be in the downtown area Friday. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to eat?

I have heard good things about Epicurean: http://www.theepicureanrestaurant.com/

I looked at the website...my mouth is already watering. I don't know that we will have time on this trip but Epicurean will definitely go down on the to do list when we move there.
Thank superkb for the suggestion!

I moved to Atlanta from NYC a year ago. There's great food down here! By downtown, what do you mean? I'd check out Ecco, if you're in the midtown area. The Globe is really good, too.

Check out http://www.fireofbrazil.com/. I've been there when in Atlanta and thought it was very good with a great concept and atmosphere. They just opened a similar place in Philly where I live, so I can't wait to try it.

Lots of great places to go depending on what you want.
Flying Biscuit Cafe (Amazing breakfast... they just sold the franchising rights to Raving Brands, but don't let that fool you http://www.flyingbiscuit.com )
Bacchanalia (depending on your budget, but their market and bakery can work for a great snack http://www.starprovisions.com)
The Varsity (not the best, but certainly a landmark... try the frosted orange)
Dailey's (http://www.daileysrestaurant.com/)
Azio DownTown (http://www.aziodowntown.com/)
Mary Mac's Tea Room (great southern cooking http://www.marymacs.com/)
Just a few places to get you started! Good luck with your upcoming move.

And I have also been told on very good authority (George Motz, filmmaker of "Hamburger America") that the Ghetto Burger at Ann's Snack Bar is the shizznit when it comes to burgers in Atlanta.

If you can get over to the Virginia-Highland area, several great options:

Here's a couple of my favorite places... Murphy's in the Virginia-Highlands area... http://www.murphysvh.com/home.html
and JCT Kitchen in the Howell Mill area (near Downtown) http://www.jctkitchen.com/index.html
Have a great time!
