Sorry, I'm posting again since links are not working on submissions.

Neat. Time to TiVo!

"She says "If it takes more than 29 minutes, I'm not interested," " Yikes.. Putting all the race talk aside, looks like another above average looking woman cooking below average food..

So they got a Latina version of Rachel Ray. I'll so be recording this... NOT!

If you want to see a REAL cook with serious creds who happens to be Latina... you should check out Daisy Martinez and her show on PBS, Daisy Cooks! I hear she has another show coming next year on another network.

Her book, Daisy Cooks!, is the modern bible on Latino food.

I certainly did not mean to imply that Ingrid was the Latina equivalent of Rachael Ray. You can cook fast and not be a half-wit.

While Puerto Rico is inexplicably identified as part of "Latin America", it is not. The real Puerto Rican chef is Carmen Aboy Valldejulia. Puerto Rican Cookery is the real bible of Puerto Rican Cookery.

I'm sorry to say I've never seen Daisy Martinez. We don't get PBS here.

Jason Perlow got it RIGHT!

And I would have to ask, SO WHAT?

Food Network sucks, in my opinion . . . and , yes, other than picking on China's exports . . . I have a right to my opinion.

WHO the HECK is JASON PERLOW? WHAT's WRONG With your CAPS lock key? is it hispanics that you object to, or Puerto Ricans?

I certainly did not mean to imply that Ingrid was the Latina equivalent of Rachael Ray. You can cook fast and not be a half-wit.

True. But I've seen Ingrid's show in Spanish, and I'd have to say she -is- the closest equivalent to Rachel Ray the Latino community has.

I didn't say Daisy wrote the bible on Puerto Rican cookery. I said "Modern Bible of Latino Cookery". The food on her show and in her book is representative of all the Latino cultures. In fact, I think she is more comparable to the Latina version of Julia Child than anything else, because her show is far more educationally focused than Ingrid's and actually teaches fundamentals.

I would love to check out Daisy's show, but we don't get PBS in Puerto Rico.

You might be able to get her DVDs at the local library.

Another thing we don't have in Puerto Rico (at least where I am) is local libraries.
But you inspired me to look, and I checked out her website, where her book is $30, and includes a DVD with several episodes. You can get just the book from Amazon for $20.

Lots of good info and recipes on her site as well.

Yeah, actually DaisyCooks.com is the site for the PBS show., which has now ended its run, and is managed by her old production company. Her personal web site, DaisyMartinez.com, has her blog/newsletter where she releases a couple of recipes from her cookbook every month as well as new stuff. Her new show is coming in early 2008.

There is NOTHING wrong with my CAPS key. It works PRECISELY the way I intend for it to work.

When it fails to do so, I shall REPLACE it.
