Best places to visit in Napa Valley & Sonoma?
i'm planning a trip to wine country in the fall and it will be my first. i'm a total foodie - so i don't want to waste a single meal there - only the best. and if possible, i'd like to stay on a budget, as i am The Frugal Foodie.
thanks for the help!

Since you probably won't go to the French Laundry, maybe you can go to Bistro Jeanty in Yountville.(both are Thomas Kellers') Yountville is small, and I believe there is a good diner there for breakfast. I also went to the Oakville grocery in Oakville and picked up food for lunch, and ate outside. St. Helena has Terra(expensive), Tra Vigne, and the main street has some casual spots. If you can, see the Hess Winery, which has a museum, and Clos Pegase, which was designed by Michael Graves . You can also have a drink at Auberge de Soleil, because it is so pretty, and you won't have to have an expensive meal there. Have fun!!

As far as restaurants... I don't have many suggestions for you, but last summer I went to Napa with my family and we visited the Niebaum-Coppola Rubicon Estate Winery (http://www.niebaum-coppola.com/) and had a wonderful experience. It's not too crowded, especially if you get there first thing in the morning (check the website for hours) and we ended up have a two-hour private tour for about the price that most vineyards charge for admission. We walked through the rows of grapes and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Enjoy your trip!

Eat at Mustard's, the Rutherford Grill, and La Toque. Stay at Rancho Caymus. Don't miss Cakebread, Rombauer, and Opus One vineyards.
