Behold, the "Meat Cake"
First glance, this looks gross (probably because of the name). But after thinking about it, I bet it's good!

I came across this idea last fall and started plotting when I'd be able to try this out. I ended up making it for a get together we had with friends. It was a huge success.... at first everyone just looked at it and went, huh? But once we sliced and served, it was great.
I used real mashed potatoes instead of the instant in the recipe, and made the sace my own. I unfortunately didn't get pics of it... hopefully next time. It's just kooky enough to want to make it again someday.

The surreal gourmet did this once. For a childrens birthday he made meatcake, and then for dessert he made a cake that looked like a hamburger. I was hilarious!

A few years ago, my son convinced me to make this for April Fools Day. Ours didn't look as nice, but it was yummy.
