NYC: Uptown banh mi
I'm tired of hiking downtown to Nicky's and Chinatown to get a bánh mì. Anybody know where I can find one on the UWS or anywhere uptown for that matter? Preferably a good one. Thanks!

Looks pretty tasty here. Not sure where to get one, considering I've never even seen this sandwich. Thanks!

If you've never had a banh mi, I'd skip your regularly scheduled dinner plans and go get one. They are fantastic. Tasty and fresh. I use Hanco's in Brooklyn, just because they are close to me but there are great spots in Chinatown (and Bao Noodles does a good one for lunch). I still need to try Nicky's.
When I worked in Oakland, I had one everyday in Chinatown... for $2.25.
When I lived in Vietnam, breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner... anytime was a good time! Banh Mi's with egg is a great breakfast (cilantro, cucumbers, etc).

Hey, I used to live on the UWS! Neither Rain nor Saigon Grill have banh mi, alas. Menupages says Vermicelli on the UES (waaay on the ES: 2nd Ave, between 77th & 78th) has banh mi, but I can't tell you if they're any good. You might want to consider just making your own, it shouldn't be hard to get ingredients in the neighborhood!

Thanks everybody--guess Banh Mis are still only accessible by the F train. Any entrepreneurs out there? Open a banh mi takeaway shop on the UWS---look how well Hampton Chutney (granted they're Indian dosas) is doing uptown--it can be done!!
