Electric kettle...very handy!

It took me years to figure out that water would come to a boil much more quickly if I covered the pot...I'm kinda slow that way.

I wish I had a spice grinder as opposed to my current morter and pestle. That would be a fantastic shortcut.

Electric Kettle, mini food processor, before my knife skills got better.

I have my spices in magnetic containers on my backsplash. Always withing reach and view while cooking.

Keeping spices over the stove might be handy, but heat will shorten their lives considerably, poor little spicy things!

I make my chicken stock very concentrated (i.e. cooking 4 hours - think meat jello!) and then pour it, while hot, into Oxo ice cube trays with the lids. That way, I can decide how rich to make my stock by controlling how many ice cubes to add.

BaHa...actually, the spice containers are on the side wall away from the stove. Which reminds me...I am going to post a question in regard to spices and herbs.

If I don't feel like boiling water for blanching veggies I will stick the veggies and a 1/4 cup of water in the microwave in a plastic wrap covered dish (leave an opening for venting) and steam them for 1 -3 minutes (depending on what I am steaming then plunge them into an ice bath or under cold water to shock them.

Thin boneless pork chops! I freeze them, 2 to a bag, after i buy them. They only take about 10 minutes to defrost in a bowl of cold water and saute/grill/bake in a matter of minutes. A lifesaver when you have to get dinner on the table quickly after a long day of work.

two come to mind immediately...one would be the bowl I use as a trash bowl so as not to constantly opening the cabinet for depositing in wastebasket - second would be the electric kettle.

I have an oven that is also a microwave. I can use the oven by itself, as well as the microwave, but I can also use them both at the same time!
I just love this appliance! Preparing food in it does not take as long as it would in just an oven, and just a microwave could never do what this can do either.

Frozen spinach. (Bird's Eye brand; in a block.) About $1.10 per, and it's so easy to microwave the water out of it and then throw the spinach into whatever delectable recipe I'm working on.

Trader Joes sells frozen cubes of parsley, garlic, basil and cilantro. These are a HUGE time saver and come in very handy when you don't have the fresh stuff available.
