I made the Guinness cake!

First I must say, I am not much of a baker. But my finished product looked and tasted fabulous. And it was very easy to make. My dinner guests loved it. My baking confidence is high and I would next like to make a very moist and delicious Lemon Cake of some sort. Does anyone have an all-time favorite recipe they can share?

ThatGirl153, did you make one of these cakes?

Yes, the Nigella Lawson recipe. For the icing, I added a bit more powdered sugar and a little cocoa to give it more of a guinness froth color. I also added a few drops of rum extract to the icing for a bit of an alcohol flavor and scent. I could not find the fine sugar they suggested for the cake, so I pulsed regular granualated sugar in the food processor for a bit.

Oh man, I've been talking about this since I saw the recipe! Glad to hear it came out great. I'm going to try it for 2 reasons. 1, I love Guinness. 2, I love chocolate.

I made it too but used Sam Adams cream stout. It was wonderful!!! The smell you get when heating the butter and beer together was the best. I also made muffins with it and frosted the top with a dark chocolate ganache.....WOW

I made the guinness cake too (but used a recipe from smitten kitchen swapping ganache for cream cheese frosing). It was amazing, and I am afraid of baking. I think I might not back from now on just to quit at a high point.
