What to put on which kind of bagel?

me = old fashioned pumpernickel -- nearly black and as dense as osmium -- with a super thin schmear of cream cheese, slice of large -- vidalia -- onion and ripe -- beefsteak -- tomato.

herring in thick -- sour creamish -- cream sauce on the side.

What could be better than an Everything Bagel with Veggie Cream Cheese.......plus a cappuccino............

Cinnamon bagel with hazelnut cream cheese. Onion bagel with butter. Plain bagel with cream cheese and raspberry or strawberry jam on top. MMMMMMMM........

Everything bagel, toasted, with peanut butter--the mix of salty and sweet is divine.

poppyseed bagel, toasted, with scallion cream cheese and a slice of tomato (in season, natch)

pumpernickel bagel with thin layer of cream cheese on both sides and a layer of Lotus speculoos in between. =)

Everything bagel and veggie cream cheese - plus a slice of munster. That is truly heaven.

Salt bagel, toasted, with the right slathered amount of butter given the chance to melt all in. Mmmmm......

Are you people MAD? The answer is onion bagel--lightly toasted--nova spread, onion and tomato. Duh!

I'm with amateurgourmet. I'll have mine just like his, and i prefer mine open-faced to sandwich style.

Super soft cold bagel with loads of cream cheese! Of course I never eat this, but dear lord, I'm due for one.

Raisin pumpernickel with scallion cream cheese.

cream cheese and sirracha hotsauce on a sesame bagel- scrumptuousness glory

there was a time when the very idea of the cinnamon raisin bagel used to make me go house. i attributed the complete and rapid decline of the bagel (and the civilized world) to their their existence (less so, but also, to the everything bagel, which i believe is a product of the 1970s.). but, now, after years of therapy, i accept these bagels and the fact that a studio on the lower east side costs 2 grand.

I'm with NickDavid . . . with the addition of sliced green olives and pimento.

Cinnamon-raisin bagel with sundried tomato spread....sounds like an odd combination but it works!

I'm with the nova lovers -- open-faced onion, sesame or poppy bagel with cream cheese, nova, onion and tomato (capers are good too). Mmmmm...

I also love a good tuna sandwich on a bagel -- sometimes cinnamon-raisin -- to get the sweet/savory combination.

Salt bagel with honey nut cream cheese.
Jalapeno bagel with plain cream cheese.
Poppy bagel with plain cream cheese and capers.

Nova lover here, also whitefish salad. Funny story when I was pregnant I went to Einstein's Bagels and ordered a cinnamon bagel with nova and cream cheese and onion. The woman who took my order gave me the strangest look. She repeated it to me, I said yes yes pregnant, She nodded and YES it was good. Would not do it today, but them it was good.

Wheat with peanut butter and sliced banana. One of my pregnancy cravings that never went away. Second fave is pumpernickel with veggie cream cheese.

Butter on a pumpernickel bagel for sure!

Pumpernickel, cream cheese, lox & tomato - please!

Warm (not toasted) sesame with cream cheese and chives.

i like the salt bagel toasted with just the right amount of butter....

but has anyone ever had a bialy????? also good toasted with a lite smear of cream cheese and butter.... also great egg & cheese sandwich.

kossars bialy shop way down the lower east side..... near the donut plant.

Plain, toasted, lox, capers, cream cheese (hey, I'm from the South; we're a little new to this party), or cinnamon-raisin, toasted, with sharp cheddar.

Of course, the game changes if they're *fresh* (and good) - but the only time that happens in my area is if I've made them. If then, the answer is always: fresh butter. Preferably homemade.

Smoked cheddar bagel, toasted, with green olive cream cheese. Pumpernickle, not toasted, with plain cream cheese, lox, capers, red onion and maybe tomato.

My favorites are a wheat or plain bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam, a blueberry bagel with cinnamon walnut cream cheese, and an everything bagel with sharp cheddar and a slice of tomato. Mmm! I don't have bagels often, but this is really making me want one!

mmmm....let's see...a toasted cinnamon bagel with peanut butter smeared on top (so it melts slightly because of the warm bagel), a sliced banana, and drizzled with honey. filling, nutritious, and delicious.

Montreal sesame seed bagel, toasted with avocado smushed on top
Cinnamon and raisin bagel, toasted, with crunchy peanut butter
Everything bagel, toasted, with herb and garlic cream cheese
