Question of the Day: What are you planning to eat during the Super Bowl?

24 Comments:

buffalo chicken lettuce wraps (with homemade dips), portobella mushroom quesadillas, lots of guacamole, and brownies!

Does Guinness count as food because I plan on drinking lots of it. I go to an Irish Bar every year for the Super Bowl. There is usually a pot luck type thing. Probably the usual fare, guacamole, sausage, cheese, wings, and someone usually makes some good chili. I will probably bring an avacado chipolte shrimp dip.

The old velveeta/rotel/chili dip and my new favorite - buffalo chicken dip. Probably also little smokies in bbq and homemade chex mix.

To root on our Chicago Bears in the frigid windy city, we will be chowing down on burgers, brats and beer! I will also make a homemade onion dip, The Amateur Gourmet's cheese straws, and sausage stuffed mushrooms. Hopefully, that will help our Chicago Bears BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!

I was thinking about making buffalo wings, but maybe BBQ ribs w/ snacky foods and beer.

Chili is the main fare at the Super Bowl party I am attending, as it is every year. My contribution is a really righteous seven-layer dip with homemade guac and refried beans.

Anything in the shape of a football, gridiron or goalpost. http://eatthefootball.blogspot.com/

The what? The Super Bowl? Is that some kind of family-sized serving thingy you buy at CostCo?

My contribution will be homemade pimiento cheese.

Oh! Eat the Football. We saw that here at Serious Eats HQ earlier this week and were waiting till tomorrow to blog it. Fun stuff to eat in the shape of a football. Heh.

I changed my mind. We're making bratwurst stewed with sauerkraut. Classic!

Healthy stuff----fresh fruit, nuts & bottled water!!

Our tradition is to go to our local pizza place and take full advantage of the salad bar. We almost never drink alcohol and sodas or tea are bottomless glasses so the beverages are quite reasonable. At half time we order a pizza. Usually by the last quarter we are back at the salad bar perusing the fruits and other sweet items. It works out quite nicely and all for about ten bucks a head.

Someday our beloved 'Niners will be there again! (We might have to celebrate a little harder than salads and pizza when that happens.)

Homemade Three Cheese and Bean dip, artichoke dip, three pepper humus, olives, lots of cured meats from La Quercia (with lots of American micro beers).
Pining for the 9ers to return, like the last writer.

We have some frozen bear in our freezer so we will make a stew on Saturday afternoon.

We will be drinking Colt 45.

shrimp cocktail, zuccini and corn quesadilas with guac salsa and chips - pluus chili and cheese quesadiilas at special request of my son, buffalo wings. phiily cheese steak paninis, deviiled eggs, caramelized onion dip, cheese and salami, lamb lollipops with yogurt mint dippig sauce, roast chicken, baked ham, ribs, baked beans, chipotle macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, arugula and little gem salad, peanut butter haystacks, brownies, oatmeal raisin cookies, fruit an dcholocalte fondue and an iced lemon bundt cake. Seriously.

Chili, lots of chips, an assortment of dips and a blueberry pie.

deviled eggs, homemade guacamole and tortilla chips, turkey and spinach lasagna, sausage stuffed mushrooms, pigs in a blanket .. and haven't decided on dessert yet!

Every year I have the basics; beer, shrimp, and chicken wings. These are appetizers for my favorite food, hot dogs. This year I will be having a special hot dog. I live in N.J. but several years ago I came across numerous posts extolling the virtues of the Romanian Kosher Sausage Company's hot dogs. I had someone send me some. They are excellent hot dogs, beefy and a well balanced flavor profile. Chicago dogs are a little less spicy/garlicky than New York beef dogs. Although Vienna Beef franks are served at over 80% of the hot dog restaurants in Chicago, Romanian's are better. I compared the 2 brands side by side at home. I'm lucky to have a place near me (J's Beef in Linden, N.J.) that serves an authentic Chicago style dog with ingredients shipped in from Chicago. Although the Vienna frank may not be my favorite beef dog, it is a good choice for a Chicago hot dog as it blends in well and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. The Romanian Kosher frank is one of the best dogs I've ever had along with Best's (Newark, N.J., not Chicago) Sabrett, (Papaya King and Katz's use these dogs) Usinger's and Thumanns. Made in a kosher butcher shop in Chicago, these dogs are actually Glatt Kosher. Many people claim that the salami made here is the best they've had. I would recommend this place to anyone living in or around Chicago. Unfortunately, they do not do mail orders.

Sent to me via mail (frozen with dry ice) from my dad in Chicago!

I made kraut balls: hand-ground ham, pork, lots o'onions, and saurkraut held together with a milk/flour binder, rolled in rye bread crumbs and fried...dipped in mustard...fantastic!!

I'm based in France... so I had dinner way before the Superbowl would even happen. Still... got all festive... went with sausage, potatoes and guacamole, but done french style. So boudin blanc aux trompettes de mort, carottes de sable, roasted salt potatoes and guacamole à la poire. Enjoy and GO BEARS!

My dad made a huge pot of chili today, so I had that on top of some brown rice, with sour cream and cheddar cheese. I usually make nachos, but feel like it this year. Instead, I threw some tortilla chips into the bowl. And I washed it all down some Yuengling Black & Tan.
