PrintMaffei: What are we missing?
Venerable lunch counter / slice haven Maffei is right around the corner from our office (at 6th and 21st), but we haven't enjoyed as much as we feel we're supposed to. What are we missing?

I'll have to try this. Ed keeps recommending it, but it's always PACKED when I go. And I hate crowds, so I usually leave. I suppose I'll have to try it as part of my Slice duties.

Does Ed read this site? I'd like to know what his recommendations are. It's often *packed* with students on they're lunch break. $3 for two slices and a soda for students!

I do want to make it clear that we have in the past *loved* some slices, but it's uneven at best.

The regular slices are pretty good, but it's the grandma slices that rock.

I'm new to pizza (was vegan for 15 years) so it's all fantastic, but this is very fantastic.

I order a grandma pie all the time and it's amazing. Thinner than a Sicilian, thicker than a regular slice, it's topped with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, rosemary and basil. It's very fresh and juicy, almost like focaccia.
