La Caridad
I believe La Caridad has closed for good. They had sent a little note with delivery orders that they would be closed for 3 weeks for renovations. I was walking past the restaurant and noticed a for rent sign on the closed gates. I know a lot of people will miss it.

Alas, it is closed. There's always La Dinastia, on West 72nd St. bet.
Amsterdam and Columbus. Same food, maybe a little better, in fact.

I never made it to La Caridad. My father tells me 66%-jokingly that I should get the beef stew there, not because it was particularly good, but just to see what a whole, peeled potato looks like in the middle of a bowl of beef stew. I love that story.

Oh, I loved that place, one of my favorite lunch places when I lived in NY. I usually made it a point to go up there during visits.
I'll miss the red beans and rice.
