We Try All the Desserts at TGI Friday's

Sweets Erin Jackson 3 comments

TGI Friday's may spring to mind mostly as a fallback option for cheap drinks and appetizer platters, but the casual dining chain (with nearly 1,000 locations) puts what looks like a decent amount of effort into their sweets. So which dessert should you order? We tasted all six permanent options to find out. More

Reality Check: New Stacked Burgers From TGI Friday's

A Hamburger Today Erin Jackson 24 comments

After nearly two years of development, this week TGI Friday's released a trio of new double-patty burgers made with fresh USDA Choice beef and brioche-style buns. Judging from what I ate, they should've spent more time on development. More

Drinking with Will Gordon: 2 New Cocktails at T.G.I. Friday's

Drinks Will Gordon 3 comments

Either I was being a big, dumb snob or the chain restaurant cocktail game has improved dramatically in the past couple of years, because these days you can get a perfectly good mixed drink at some of the aggressively decorated quesadilleries that we all love to mock and the honest among us love to (very occasionally) gorge ourselves at. My wife works near Boston's sole T.G.I. Friday's, so we stopped in last week to investigate their two newest drinks, the Bee Sting and the Grey Goose Cooler. More

T.G.I. Friday's New Korean Steak Tacos

Fast Food Will Gordon 8 comments

I really, really wanted to like these things. I have no particular love for T.G.I. Friday's or anyplace like it, but as soon as these new tacos were announced last month, the hipper-than-thou blogger backlash began: How on Earth could a chain restaurant serve a credible Korean taco? Well, it turns out they can't in this case. More

Friday's spokesman Guy Fieri and a TMZ cameraman: TMZ: “I thought you only eat at Friday’s.” Fieri: “No, I’m a Food Network chef, man, so I just do commercials for Friday’s. You know how it is.” TMZ: “You like Friday’s?” Fieri: “It’s a good gig.” TMZ: “Good there?” Fieri: “They back up one of my shows, called Ultimate Recipe Showdown.” [via Food Network Addict]... More

T.G.I. Friday’s Loyalty Program, 'Give Me More Stripes,' Lets You Cut the Line and Get Free Food

Raphael 6 comments

Ever go to T.G.I. Friday’s and say to yourself, "Hey, this line is really long! I wish there was a way to cut ahead of all these people!"? Now there's at least one way to get some V.I.P. treatment in the local strip mall without slipping the maître d' a twenty. Not sure how we missed this, but T.G.I. Friday’s launched their loyalty program, "Give Me More Stripes" on July 14, and the numbers are astounding: more than 380,000 members signed up, which evens out to more than 600 members per U.S. restaurant. In a way, it's not surprising when given these perks: a free appetizer or dessert upon sign-up, a one-time use jump-the-line-pass, and an $8 certificate for every... More

Is There Big Money in Smaller Portions?

Ed Levine Post a comment

At a time when Burger King's Meat'Normous, a breakfast sandwich that features a pound of ham, bacon, and sausage, is selling like, well, hot cakes, another restaurant chain is betting on smaller portion menu options to maximize profits. Richard Snead, head of the company that owns TGI Friday's, is heavily marketing 2/3 "right size portions" to consumers. Will a country addicted to outsized portions buy more of these "eat less" options? Stay tuned.... More
