With food, that is, among the countless ways parents can be embarrassing... The thread on other parents' food got me thinking, were there common dishes in your house that surprised or freaked out your friends?
Bizarre Kitchen Product Reviews
Do you read buyer reviews at websites like Amazon.com? I frequently stumble across some of the most bizarre and/or hysterical comments.
This one caught my eye (the italics are mine):
if you like caviar that turns your teeth and tongue dark blue - then this is the product for you!
And this one?
So far this sink mat has done a great job. It's a nice looking mat, doesn't have that cheap plastic look. It's been durable, not wilting under all the dishes I leave in the sink. And the biggest bonus is that it's stopped my cat from peeing in the sink.
WTF? Remind me never to eat over at this person's house...
Weird wings!
I have been posed a challenge for a sensory evaluation contest to come up with the most unusual or weird chicken wing recipe or presentation EVER that can be verified by a restaurant menu or cookbook. Since I don't like to lose, I need help!
Best weird taste combinations?
I guess this is the inevitable spin-off of the lapses in good judgment question. When I was little a kid I knew couldn't get enough of peanut butter and cheese whiz sandwiches. Together. As in mixed. I thought it was the grossest thing ever - well, after the girl who ate tongue sandwiches every day. Haha.
Anyway, what are some of your favourite weird taste combinations? What grossed you out in theory but turned out to be incredibly tasty when you tried it? What combination grossed you out so much you can't bring yourself to try it?
Ever do anything totally ridiculous in a restaurant?
I was reminded of the time I walked into a restaurant this one, actually which is described a bit at the end of this topic in the middle of a heavy rainstorm.
At the moment we opened the door to enter, the most enormous clap of thunder sounded and I literally ran into the restaurant shrieking at the top of my lungs.
The entire restaurant burst out in laughter.
Anything like this ever happen to you?
