Do you have a favorite kitchen tool or special gadget that you have had for years? Is there a contemporary replacement for your old kitchen tool or gadget? Would you be willing to part with the "old" to bring in the "new"?
Cooking-related thermometers, used or ignored?
Thermometers can be helpful...prevent over-cooking roast beef or assist us in a successful batch of toffee. So, how often do you use a culinary-related thermometer? How many types do you have...oven, refrigerator, meat, candy or are there others? Do you go for a fancy high-tech infrared, digital or maybe an instant read? Brand name you've had luck with? How often do you calibrate them? When did you last rely on a cooking-related thermometer?
Kitchen Gadgets to chop, dice and mince into small pieces.
I love to enhance the flavor of everyday dishes as well as the gourmet endeavors. I find that I need to chop fresh things into small pieices. Mincing, chopping and grating cheeses herbs, garlic, ginger and other things are ofen required. I heard BonVie has some sort of 4-in-1 gadget that does it all. Anyone found it? Bed Bath was supposed to carry it. QVC ran out.

I'm sure we all have our "go to" knives ... personally mine's nothing super special. It's a 7-inch chefs by Henckels. I know, to each their own. Balance, weight, blade, sharpness are all important. What's your favorite and what makes it the best?
