Do you eat a bed-time snack? What is it?
Right now I'm having a bowl of leftover orzo with feta and zucchini. And a beer! I did just get back from soccer...
Usually I have cereal (Shreddies or Mini-Wheats) or yoghourt with fruit. For me a bed-time snack has to be eaten with a bowl and spoon. What do you eat? Or are you someone who doesn't eat after a certain hour?
Snacks for a poker party?
Hosting 24 people. Need snacks that will: fit on small plates, don't require utensils, don't drip, can sit out for a while at room temp, and are easy on the hostess to prepare in advance. This is also a going away party for a chef, so no pressure there, right? Hahaha!
When the vending machine calls, what do you choose?
I am sort of having a craving for something right now, and nothing in my current arsenal (my desk drawer) seems to be calling me. I am not sure what I would like, but I have a feeling that I want something from the vending machine. My favorites are usually Snickers or Animal Crackers, or the occasional Pearson's Salted Nut Roll (it's a regional thing in the MN/ND area, if you know it...so good!).
So, what do you usually go for? Is there anything that no one touches? Or that you simply wouldn't go near? Are their healthy options, and do you choose those ever?
Would rather give up nuts or chips?
I'll define nuts as all tree nuts plus peanuts. Chips...meaning potato, corn and tortilla. Yes, both are serious snack foods! Nuts are actually an ingredient in a heck of alot more recipes but chips are a natural with sandwiches & dips. This is not a tough decision for me...I'll remain nutty all the way!
Favorite road trip snacks!
I'm going on a 2 day road trip- I want to avoid stopping for (eeek!) gas station snacks. I'd prefer to make them at home rather than ingest a quanity of chili cheese fritos & gummyworms...even though (shhh!) I love them both) Do you have any take along road snacks... ideas or recipes to share? We will be bringing a (small) cooler along as well. Thanks for your ideas!!
What are your weirdest grab snacks? What's a grab snack?
What's a grab snack? 1)Something you eat before your mind understands what's going on.2)Something that probably wouldn't taste good if you were sitting at the table. I grabbed last nights plain couscous which kind of hardened in the fridge, big regrets!
Super Bowl Snacks
With Super Bowl Sunday fast approaching need some advise on what to bring to the party. I'm looking for vegetarian, finger food that is good at room temp and travels easily. And of course is football appropriate. Ideas?
Cocktail party snack suggestions?
I'm throwing my first, real, actual cocktail party for the holidays and I'd like to impress the friends and fam with some interesting hors d'oeuvres. My co-hostess was raised on Lil' Smokies and Velveeta, so I'm pretty much on my own. I'm looking for simple ideas and recipes that aren't too expensive, but involve more thought than opening a box of Ritz!
Any suggestions on what to serve, and party-hosting in general? Also, tips on keeping cold things cold and hot things hot? Thanks!
Where do you snack?
Is it in your car, behind the fridge, in front of the TV, in the bathroom? Come on , no lying. I am a fridge snacker , I admit it!
What do you purchase from vending machines?
I rarely have access to vending machines. I work in a hospital that prohibits them. Occasionally, while waiting for my car to be serviced or running errands, I may buy a beverage---usually water. Are the machines becoming a thing of the past? Do you purchase snax or meals from these devices?
I used to eat ________after school
The snax that I relied on most often was graham crackers dipped in a cold glass of milk. Rootbeer floats, when I could get away with it! Thinking back to your school days, what were your favorite snacks after a long day in class?
How do you flavor your popcorn?
A sprinkle of salt with a light drizzle of real butter is my usual. Cinnamon sugar, if I'm craving something sweet. Share your flavor creations.
Snacks to Eat While Reading Harry Potter?
Reading HP7 this weekend? Aside for Bertie Bott's beans, what food will fuel your reading marathon? The person who blogs at Bexnlog had some ideas.
What is your go-to midnight snack?
Or, perhaps the better question would be: What is your go-to 3 o'clock AM snack? With finals period in full swing at school I've found that the wee hours of the morning and I are becoming fast friends. Ack!
So far waffles are my favorite. There's nothing like a crisp waffle and a bowl of warm syrup to make the ungodly hours of the day just a bit more holy.
