Your "house" salad dressing
I'm looking for a good, go-to, reliably delicious, crowd-pleasing vinaigrette-type salad dressing that can be made with pantry staples. Every time I want to make a vinaigrette, I scramble through cookbooks (always at the last minute) but haven't found one that has quite become my "house" dressing.
I'd love to be able to find one (or a few, even) that's easy enough to memorize and use for when I don't want to think too hard (end of the day exhaustion and all that...). Does anyone have a recipe they use and love?
Roasted Eggplant Salad
Needs a really good recipe for eggplant salad...any ideas?
Chicken Salad.
I love chicken salad. Usually I make it with chopped walnuts and dried cranberries, salt, pepper, and a little dash of cayenne. But this is getting a little old...and I want something new. What do you add to your chicken salad? Do you fry up your chicken first? (I boil mine.) Tell me your secrets! :-)
Shrimp Salad with Celery?
I am getting ready to make shrimp salad. My husband like finely chopped celery in the shrimp salad and I would prefer to leave it out my dressing is flavorful enough without it as far as I am concerned. What do you guys think??
What salad will you serve on Thanksgiving?
With the turkey & dressing, multi-sides, other nibbles & dessert...does salad find itself on your menu? Never liked those gelatin concoctions that were traditional in my growing-up years :( When I do plan a Thanksgiving dinner, I include a fruit salad containing pears, apples, grapes, nuts ,etc. Are you serving a salad this year?

Now is the time for combining apples, pears, grapes & pomegranates. I roast root vegetables & add to salad greens. I'd like to experiment with grains & lentils. Do your salad recipes change with the seasons?

Epicurious just ain't doing it for me--Anybody have a good recipe for a simple fennel salad? Alas I do not own a mandolin slicer...
Alternative BBQ salads
A friend of mine is planning ahead for her summer wedding barbecue, and wants some ideas for alternative salads to serve (i.e., no macaroni or potato salad, or cole slaw).
What's your favorite salad combination?
Right now I am hooked on crumbled goat cheese, dried cranberries, candied pecans with rasberry vinegarette on field greens or any other non-romaine lettuce. I would love some new ideas for a good salad.
