Chinatown, SOS!

Okay, I know it is last minute but I can't help it. I'm taking friends to eat lunch in Chinatown,NYC, today. I love New Chao Chow( per Ed Levine), but I need alternatives, fast. HELP!!!!

Menu Planning Challenge...Impressive, yet Kid-Friendly Dessert!

This weekend I'll be visiting the fam. As has become the custom, I'll cook lunch on Sunday for three adults and four children, ages 6-17, who are somewhat picky eaters. On the menu are fancy grilled chicken burgers with all the fixings, roasted yam fries (some russet fries for the pickies) and a veggie/salad.

My challenge is a tasty, not-too-calorie-laden dessert that will wow the adults and satisfy the kids' palate, that also matches the "Burgers and Fries" theme. Any ideas?

NYC Restaurant Recommendations?

I haven't really explored NYC before, and I'm heading over there to meet up with my boyfriend at Grand Central this coming weekend. We're total foodies, so we're looking forward to two great lunches and an even awesomer dinner, but we don't know where! We pretty much decided the first lunch would be a nice trad'l Jewish delicatessen, Katz's (from this website's great recommendation), but other than that, we're not sure. Help?

Informal/casual lunches (if you have a better deli to suggest, please don't hesitate, Katz's isn't set in stone), and nothing more expensive than $70/person for the dinner (sorry Le Bernardin!). We are definite meat-eaters, and every type of cuisine is pretty much up for grabs, although we do like to be adventurous, so I guess Italian and American foods are out. I'd love to hear your suggestions and why! Thanks everyone!

What's for lunch today?

For me? Hummus, whole wheat pita bread, salad w/lemon juice-olive oil dressing, crispin apple, Coke Zero.

You?

Do you brown bag it for lunch?

And if so, what are your faves? I've become addicted to my Mr. Bento, loving all the variety I can pack into that baby. But - I'm running out of ideas. Today? Diced mango, plain lowfat Stonyfield Farms yogurt, carrot sticks, sharp cheddar cheese and Triscuits. It's tasty and ummm, very, very orange. So, what do you make? Are you a thermos, brown bag or bento person?

Good prix fixe lunch in flatiron/union square, nyc area?

I hear that Fleur de Sel is terrific for a prix fixe lunch--any suggestions there or any other great prix fixe places nearby? Budget is a concern..Thanks!

NY recommendations: Lunch.

I'll be in NY in a couple of weeks, for a few days and, unfortunately, I will not be available in the evenings so I need recommendations for places that are open at lunch/afternoons. Money is no object at this point, and I wouldn't mind gorging on a tasting menu at least once. I guess the only place I'm really sure I want to go is Shake Sack and Otto.

Any more recommendations that are open in the afternoons? I'd like to make reservations soon...

Lunch spots: Flatiron District

So, we just moved offices to 20th & 5th from Broadway / Houston and we take our lunch seriously, as most Serious Eaters would. We have left a bunch of great lunch places behind (Dom's, Despana, Alidoro, La Esquina, Pepe Rosso, La Conquista, Blue Ribbon Market, Balthazar, DeMarco's, the list goes on).
As much as I want to eat Shake Shack everday, I need a bit more variety in life and lunch. We did have a great Reuben at Eisenberg's on Friday. Any other suggestions?
