Terrible Kitchen Odors
Many kitchen fragrances make us hungry or bring back childhood memories. What about the opposite? Are there cooking odors that make you sick? I saw a show last night where a woman was sued because of odors emanating from her apartment, even though she had gone to herculean effort to prevent bothering her neighbors. That kind of living situation would make an impact (positive or negative) on those who could smell your food. What cooking odors make you run for cover?
what kitchen smells effect you the most
They say that memory and scent are strongest linked. What smells trigger memories for you the most strongly. For me it's the smell of olive oil and sauteeing onions and garlic.
Kitchen safety rule I learned the hard way was ____
There have been many over the years. One that left the most meaningful impression was the time a small sauce pan of grease came to the smoking point. Quickly yanked the pan off the electric burner, the grease burst into flames & I stupidly I dropped the pan on the kitchen counter...ruined the kitchen counter & melted the light fixture above. Some miracle did occur as flames died quickly & no one was burned. An expensive lesson, tho' I've heard safety may well be the most important cooking skill. What safety rule have you had to learn the hard way?
What's your favorite kitchen item?
What do you use the heck out of...specific cookware? Electric appliance? Gadget? Bakeware? How often do you use this item? I appreciate having my digital scale...use it daily during meal prep as well as for baking. Which kitchen item is a necessity for you?
Is your kitchen green (environmentally friendly)?
I was at the Nature Museum last weekend and they had this awesome exhibit called the Extreme Green house where everything in the house was made to be environmentally friendly from the bathrooms to of course, the kitchen!
I'm wondering if anyone out there tries to be green in the kitchen....what things do you consciously do in your kitchen to help out the environment?
