Refrigerator Crisper.

Yesterday I bought a ton of wonderful organic vegetables and many of them are already going limp because my refrigerator doesn't have a crisper. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep my vegetables and fruits nice and fresh without the use of a cripser?

Spinach Help?

My adorable but silly husband put away all of the groceries yesterday afternoon and put my fresh (like, just-out-of-the-ground fresh) spinach directly into the fridge, not the crisper. This morning, I opened the fridge to find all of that lovely spinach wilted and terrible-looking.

I put it into the crisper and am planning on giving it an ice-water bath later to try and perk it back up. Any other ideas? Will the ice-water bath damage it? How do you re-perked wilted spinach?

Question of the Day: Snap! We love crisp food.

According to a Chicago Tribune article, we love things that go crunch in the bite. Crisp foods promise freshness. Both food companies & chef's know this. Think croutons on a crisp salad, extra crispy fried chicken, that first potato chip out of new bag, creme brulee's crisp sugar crust & even some wines are considered "crisp". I enjoy Honeycrisp apples in the Fall & the snap of a good, dark chocolate bar anytime. What crisp, crunchy foods do you seek out?
